Ingye-dong cutlet spot, late lunch with kkakdugi refills: Gyewondang

This is Gyewondang Ingye Branch, located on Ingye-ro near Suwon City Hall Station~! This time I stopped by for a late lunch with a friend while we were out exploring Suwon's Ingye-dong and Haenggung-dong. My last post was also about cutlets and so is this one lol, but it's delicious so bear with me haha. This was my first time visiting Gyewondang, and I was so satisfied that I'd definitely go back!!! Let's get into it~

Gyewondang Ingye Branch parking and opening hours

• 8 spots available in the underground parking lot
• Roadside parking in front of the store from 11am to 2:30pm
• If there's no space, ask staff at the store and they'll help you park

Daily: 11:00–21:00 / *Last order: 20:30 / *Closed during Chuseok holidays

A 10–15 minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station: the exterior and entrance

Here's the exterior~ It took about 10-15 minutes on foot from Suwon City Hall Station. There's a menu board and standing sign outside so I was already excited thinking about what to eat haha

Wait, what is this?! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ So cute, is this for dogs to have a meal(?) It made me laugh as I walked into the restaurant lol. FYI, the door is really stiff so you have to push hard,,!

Inside Gyewondang Ingye Branch and the self-serve bar

The inside of Gyewondang Ingye Branch was even more spacious and clean than I expected, with a nice tidy interior. Fried food places usually have slippery floors or smell of oil, but this place had none of that at all. The bright atmosphere would also make it a great date spot~❤️

They even have a self-serve soda dispenser and coffee machine you can pour once you order!!! Machines this clean already boost my trust in the place

*You can grab as many extra side dishes as you want from the self-serve bar anytime, and you can even pack up leftovers yourself;;;* Love it so much,,

What we ordered and what it cost: 27,300 won for two

Here's the menu. Ah~ I only have one mouth but there's so much I want to eat, total chaos deciding ;ㅁ;

We got: handmade pork loin cutlet (egg fried rice) - ₩12,000 / butter chicken curry set (mini chicken cutlet) - ₩12,400 / unlimited soda +₩900 / lemonade - ₩2,900. Total = ₩27,300-!

When I ordered unlimited soda they gave me a tall cup, so I poured my drink first! You can even scoop your own ice from the ice maker, so I got to load it up with as much ice as I wanted, so happy ㅠ

How does the handmade pork loin cutlet with egg fried rice taste?

This is my friend's handmade pork loin cutlet. Cut into easy bite-sized pieces,, first off, you can tell just from the color of the batter that it's a perfect, appetizing golden brown. It's really crispy and has zero greasiness. Can fried food really be this savory? How is it not oily at all? That's the level we're talking about,, The sauce on top is also smooth and sweet, pairing really well with the cutlet,,

But especially!! This egg fried rice is seriously next level. It has real smoky wok-fire flavor, way more delicious than the egg fried rice at most Chinese restaurants haha. Ugh, I want to eat that egg fried rice again

Butter chicken curry set with a mini chicken cutlet

This is my butter chicken curry. Apparently it's a handmade chicken cutlet made with 100% chicken thigh meat. First of all, the color of the butter curry alone is a work of art

Wow,, the butter chicken curry was the real deal. The combo of the crispy chicken cutlet on top and the deeper, richer flavor from the butter in the curry nearly drove me crazy. That this whole set costs only 12,400 won or 12,000 won is seriously a great value spot,,

Everything was delicious no matter how I ate it, but I especially loved mixing the curry and rice together, adding a piece of chicken cutlet, and topping it with diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) on top haha. Koreans really need kimchi with their curry!! The kkakdugi in particular was so, so good that I refilled it. It was seriously good enough that I wanted to buy some to take home,,

Is Gyewondang Ingye Branch worth a visit? Final verdict

✅ Atmosphere: A cutlet restaurant about a 10-15 minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station, with an interior that was bigger and cleaner than expected. Despite being a fried food place, there's no oily smell or slippery floor — it's comfortable and bright, making it good for a date spot too. You can take as many side dishes as you want from the self-serve bar and pack leftovers yourself. There are 8 spots in the underground parking lot, and roadside parking in front of the store is also possible from 11am to 2:30pm.

✅ Price/portions: Handmade pork loin cutlet (egg fried rice) ₩12,000 + butter chicken curry set (mini chicken cutlet) ₩12,400 + unlimited soda ₩900 + lemonade ₩2,900, totaling ₩27,300 — considering the side dishes and portions, this is really good value.

✅ Taste: The handmade pork loin cutlet's golden batter was really crispy and nearly grease-free, light and clean, and paired well with the soft, sweet sauce. The egg fried rice in particular had real smoky wok flavor, impressive enough to feel better than the fried rice at a Chinese restaurant. The butter chicken curry was delicious with the crispy chicken thigh cutlet and rich buttery curry combo, and the kkakdugi wasn't overly fermented, so good that I refilled it and it paired perfectly with the fried dishes.
