Free red bean spring rolls with mazesoba in Yongsan: Menya Seoul

My husband and I had a Yongsan date over the weekend after a while.

This date was all about the movie! Eek!! >_<

After the movie we were hungrier than expected, so we decided to eat dinner inside I'Park Mall instead of going out. Looking for somewhere we could eat right away without leaving the building, we ended up at Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch!!

Location and route to Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch

Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch is at 55 Hangang-daero 23-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 7th floor of I'Park Mall. It's inside the same mall as the cinema so it's easy to get to, and with everything from ramen to various noodle dishes on the menu, it's a solid pick for a day like ours when you want to catch a movie and eat in one go~~

Yongsan Station connects directly to I'Park Mall, so it was also convenient to get to by public transport!! Since we moved straight from the cinema inside the mall, we didn't need to step outside at all~~

On a hot day or a rainy day, being able to handle both the movie and the meal entirely indoors was definitely convenient~~ You'd agree, right?

A clean, comfortable restaurant

Being inside a shopping mall, the atmosphere was easy for everyone from families to couples to eat comfortably, and it was nice sitting across from my husband, chatting about the movie we'd just seen while eating slowly!

If you watch movies in Yongsan often, I think the biggest advantage here is the location — perfect to drop by before or after a screening~~

Ordering by our own tastes

Looking at the menu, we each picked something different haha. We're the type who'd rather order two different dishes and share small bites than get two of the same ramen, so that's what we did again this time~

Once the food arrived, the two dishes looked completely different in style, which was fun to see~~

The pork belly mazesoba, loaded with meat and chives

The dish I picked was Menya Seoul's pork belly mazesoba (mixed noodles without broth). Even from the photo you can tell how varied the toppings are, right?

There's a generous amount of pork belly, chives and minced meat, seaweed, and bonito flakes on top, and right in the center — an egg yolk, plopped right on!

Gudetama, what are you doing there~? Hahaha, plop!

Once the yolk mixed into the noodles it added extra richness, and the savory-seasoned meat and crunchy chives came together with more texture variety than I expected~

There was also a subtle whiff of bonito flakes, and I preferred loading up a big bite of toppings over eating the noodles plain!! Especially since the meat topping was generous, I never felt like I was running low while eating the noodles >_<

Side dishes and the weekday afternoon red bean spring rolls

My mazesoba came with pickled radish and sweet red bean spring rolls as sides. Free 2 pieces of sweet red bean spring rolls, weekdays 2 to 6pm! Hahaha

Noodles alone might've felt a bit lacking, but with the sides added it turned into a pretty filling meal!! Munching on the pickled radish in between cleaned the palate, and finishing with the red bean spring roll as a sweet finish was great!!

My husband's pick: the dongpo pork chashu ramen set

My husband picked the dongpo pork chashu ramen set with clear broth. Since it's a set, a side rice bowl showed up too — ta-da!

With big chunks of dongpo pork and chashu, bean sprouts, scallions and other toppings piled on, it caught my eye the moment it arrived..?

Mine's good too, but how good must that be...? *drools*

What caught my eye first was the thick dongpo pork sitting in the middle. The outside was grilled to a nice color and it had real thickness, so it'd be a welcome sight for anyone who loves meat!! Dipping it slightly into the broth and eating it with the noodles~ mmm~~ it went so well together and wasn't tough at all... amazing... as usual, my husband's food looked tastier than mine so I stole a bite!

Ramen with a rich broth

The broth of Menya Seoul's dongpo pork chashu ramen wasn't as heavy as it looked.

Eaten together with the noodles, the broth blended in nicely, and with bean sprouts and scallions mixed in throughout, the texture wasn't monotonous either haha

It was my husband's dish but I got to try a bite too.... (-_-)..... It had a different charm from the mixed-style dish I ordered >_< I wanted to eat both, so I just went for it!

So I thought if two people are visiting, ordering one of each style to share isn't a bad idea at all....

That way I can eat it all... wait, not me — you guys, hahaha

A movie date with a smooth route: movie then dinner

Personally, what I liked most about this visit wasn't just the taste but how convenient the route was! Coming all the way to Yongsan for a movie and then having to go back outside for dinner is kind of a hassle, right ㅠㅠ

Since Menya Seoul is inside I'Park Mall, you can move straight there after the movie ends, so if you're planning a movie date like we did, it's easy to put the course together~~

Shopping, a movie, and finishing off with a warm bowl of ramen — a day of dating wrapped up neatly!

If you're looking for ramen at Yongsan I'Park Mall

As always, my husband and I picked different dishes to try — the mazesoba I ate was fun to mix together with the meat, chives, and the Gudetama-like yolk, and the dongpo pork chashu ramen my husband chose let us enjoy generous meat toppings alongside a warm broth. What I liked most of all was how accessible it is, being inside I'Park Mall connected right to Yongsan Station~

If you're looking for a good ramen restaurant at Yongsan I'Park Mall, or a place to eat right after a movie, this one might be worth keeping in mind!! Next time I'd like to try some of the other ramen dishes I didn't get to this time. :)
