I went on a trip to Jeju for the first time in a year. When you come to Jeju, there is one menu you absolutely cannot skip: black pork, right!!! Whenever I come to Jeju, I have to eat black pork haha.

As soon as I arrived in Jeju this time too, I headed straight out for delicious black pork. Taking in the sea in Aewol and then having tasty meat made me ridiculously happy from the very start of the trip. The very first meal of this Jeju trip was Nopo Dwaeji Aewol (노포돼지 애월)!

There is a large parking lot behind Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, so it was convenient to visit by car too.
Once inside, the space was roomy and pleasant. Everything felt clean and organized, making it a comfortable place to enjoy meat in Jeju.
The tables were especially well spaced, and there were high chairs as well as a self-service bar, so you can easily help yourself to any side dishes you need.

The black pork geun-gogi and sides we ordered
- Jeju black pork geun-gogi (large-cut pork), 600g ₩72,000 (pork belly + pork neck)
- Yellow crab doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) ₩9,000
- Dasima-bap (kelp rice), 1 serving ₩1,000

Black pork geun-gogi with pork neck and pork belly
If you have come to Jeju, you have to start with black pork, of course. I make a point of eating black pork every time I visit Jeju, so I picked it properly for the first meal of this trip too.
We ordered 600g of black pork geun-gogi! Since it comes with both pork neck and pork belly, it was great to taste two cuts at once. They use aged black pork too, so I was already full of anticipation before it even hit the grill.
A staff member grilled the meat for us. They cooked it to a lovely golden brown at just the right time, so we could simply sit back and enjoy eating. I loved that.

I picked up a piece of nicely cooked pork neck and tried it—such a good texture, chewy yet tender. I wrapped it up properly in ssam (leaf wraps) and enjoyed it with the side dishes, haha.
And then it was time for my favorite, pork belly~! Once we had finished the pork neck, the golden-brown Jeju black pork belly had a properly rich, nutty flavor. Put a piece of meat in a wrap, add a little garlic and some side dishes, and it is a seriously full bite.
Personally, I found the pork belly so delicious that I could have cried. My friend was making a huge fuss too, saying how good the pork belly was~!

Yellow crab soybean paste stew and kelp rice together
You cannot leave out stew when you are having meat, right? We ordered the yellow crab doenjang-jjigae too. But what is this presentation!!! It came with yellow crab and loads of tofu.
A spoonful of the broth was earthy and deeply flavorful. The crab in particular made the broth itself so tasty. One piece of meat, one spoonful of soybean paste stew—what more is there to say about that combination?
The kelp rice was savory too, and the tofu had that fluffy texture I love, so it was even more delicious eaten with the broth.

My first black pork meal of the Aewol trip
Black pork is indispensable on a Jeju trip, and this time I enjoyed it deliciously in Aewol. With aged black pork geun-gogi featuring both pork neck and pork belly, plus yellow crab soybean paste stew and kelp rice, it made for a filling and delicious meal.
With its spacious, clean dining room and plenty of parking, it was a black pork spot near Gwakji Beach that would suit group visits or family meals too. If you are planning an Aewol trip and looking for a Jeju meat restaurant, I recommend it. If I crave black pork on my next Jeju trip, I would love to come back and enjoy it again. Another delicious meal in Jeju: success!
