Udo abalone feast with ocean views: Soseom Jeonbok
In short
Soseom Jeonbok is a seafood restaurant on Udo Island in Jeju, with wide ocean views through floor-to-ceiling windows. I tried the 48,000-won two-person Honryesang Set, with abalone rice, six butter-grilled abalones, abalone mulhoe, and abalone sea urchin seaweed soup. Verdict: a satisfying, clean-tasting place to try several abalone dishes at once.

Abalone dishes with a view of the Udo sea
Soseom Jeonbok (소섬전복), a great abalone spot on Udo Island 🦪

The tables were nicely spaced out, and the Udo sea stretched out refreshingly beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows 💙

The whole place has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it gets plenty of light—and especially, the view was just so pretty 😊

What comes in the two-person Honryesang Set
There are lots of options, from individual abalone dishes to sets 😍

I couldn't decide what to eat, so I ordered the two-person Honryesang Set 😎 (I love getting to try lots of things, haha.)

The basic sides included soy-marinated crab!! It wasn't salty, had lots of sweetness, and was delicious, so I thought the quality was great right from the sides 👍🏻👍🏻

Another side was grilled black pork!! (meat skewers) Crab and black pork even before the mains arrived~! My mouth was so happy 😋
Try topping the grilled black pork with geu-jeotgal, a salted fermented abalone innards condiment—it’s a combination that needs no other rice side dishes 😊

Geu is what abalone innards are called in Jeju! I was a little worried since this jeotgal is made from abalone innards, but it had none of that fishy taste or excessive saltiness—just tons of savory depth 😝

With the Honryesang Set, you can choose two individual dishes,

and the ones we chose were abalone mulhoe (chilled raw fish soup) and abalone sea urchin seaweed soup 😜

Honryesang Set: ₩48,000 (choose 2 individual dishes + 6 butter-grilled abalones)

The abalone rice was packed with beautifully cooked abalone,

and then there were six butter-grilled abalones on top of that,

making this a great set for trying several abalone dishes at once 🤩✨

Abalone rice and butter-grilled abalone together
The grilled abalone wasn't tough, and taking a big bite at once was packed with flavor 🥰

The abalone-packed rice also went wonderfully with the geu-jeotgal,

with just the right salty, savory flavor—so good 🤭 (This is Soseom Jeonbok’s recommended combination, haha.)

Abalone mulhoe and sea urchin seaweed soup
The abalone mulhoe had generous amounts of abalone, seaweed, and vegetables, so every bite had such great texture 🧡

It was cool, tangy, and sweet, so I just kept eating it 😝

The seaweed soup combined seaweed, abalone, and sea urchin, so it really tasted deeply of the sea!

That combination could easily have been fishy, but it was handled so well with no fishiness at all, making it clean and easy to enjoy, haha.

- If you're looking for a satisfying meal on Udo, Soseom Jeonbok!
- Even more recommended if you want to try a variety of abalone dishes!
- I enjoyed a range of abalone dishes with a clean taste and no fishiness!
- A great ocean-view restaurant on Udo for dining while looking out at the sea!
