We visited Hamjjirang Tojjirang in Dochcheok-myeon, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, with our child and both grandparents.

This is our review of a family outing where we got up close with ducks, rabbits, and baby piglets, and even tried the rabbit bonding experience.

Why three generations chose Hamjjirang Tojjirang for a day out

Hamjjirang Tojjirang is an animal experience café on Docheok-ro in Docheok-myeon, Gwangju, Gyeonggi. You pay at the counter next to the entrance and receive feed to start the experience, and the parking lot is spacious both in front of and beside the building, so bringing the grandparents along wasn't a hassle at all.

We were trying to decide where to take our kid, and this time we went with grandma and grandpa too, to Hamjjirang Tojjirang in Dochcheok-myeon, Gwangju. 😊

We chose this place because we thought our child would love being able to see and directly bond with animals up close.

At first the child seemed too scared to approach the animals as they came closer, but it was fun watching things gradually change over time.

"This is my first time seeing this. Of course it's scary if it's your first time. That's okay, it's normal to be scared when it's new." We kept agreeing with our child like that to help them feel reassured.

When we first walked in, our child was more cautious than expected. Seeing animals in photos or videos and meeting them in real life right in front of you must really be different.

But little by little, they got used to it, started watching the ducks, and began talking to the rabbits and baby piglets. 😄

Watching a child who kept backing away at first end up talking to the animals up close later on — I thought, this must be the fun of animal-bonding experiences.

We got up close with ducks, rabbits, baby piglets, parrots, hamsters, and even chameleons.

There were several other animals too. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn't see the wilder ones, but our child loved it.

Talking to the ducks, staring at the rabbits for a long while, and chatting in front of the cute baby piglets — it was really adorable to watch.

It was even better because instead of just watching the animals, our child got to observe them up close and build their own curiosity.

Grandma and grandpa also enjoyed watching their grandchild get closer to the animals. Outings with just parents and kids are nice, but going as three generations like this made for a whole different kind of memory. 🤎

The most memorable part of the day at Hamjjirang Tojjirang was the rabbit bonding experience. Our child picked out a rabbit they liked, and we spent time close together in a bonding room.

Since our child was scared at first, we wondered if they could even do it, but eventually they picked out a rabbit they liked on their own.

Then, with grandpa's help, we spent time getting close to the rabbit in the bonding room. Compared to the beginning, it was a huge change. 😊

Watching our child gradually approach an animal that had once seemed strange and scary, feeding it and bonding directly with it, made us feel glad we brought them.

Rather than pushing a child to touch the animal right away, giving them enough time to observe and adjust seems like a better approach.

When going somewhere with a child, facility management matters just as much as the animals themselves. Visiting in person, the space felt large and generally well-kept, so we could use it comfortably.

The staff were kind too, so even on our first visit, we could enjoy the experience without any trouble.

Since our child was scared at first, we needed the adults' help, but it was nice being able to adjust slowly in such a comfortable atmosphere.

The surrounding scenery was lovely too. There's a lake nearby, so if the weather is nice, taking a slow walk with the family after the animal experience would be a great idea.

Outings with a child plus grandma and grandpa can get tiring if you pack in too much of a schedule. Planning around bonding with animals and taking a light walk nearby seems like a good way to spend a relaxed day.

What stuck with me most from this outing was how completely different our child was at the start versus the end. At first, they were cautious and said they were scared, but before long they were talking to the ducks, rabbits, and baby piglets, and by the end they even did the rabbit bonding experience with grandpa's help.

For our child, it was a chance to get a little closer to animals, and for grandma and grandpa, it became another memory made with their grandchild. You don't need to travel far — a day where three generations can laugh together like this is more than enough for a good family outing. 😊
