Hwangnidang-gil fruit mochi shop with Dubai raw chocolate: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fruit mochi and tart takeout shop in an alley off Sajeong-ro in Hwangnidang-gil, Gyeongju. On this visit the peach, gold kiwi and Dubai raw chocolate mochi were all fist-sized giants, the in-season peach was remarkably sweet, and the gold kiwi mochi held sweet red bean alongside the cream. Mochi run 5,000-7,500 won with 500 won off each piece when you buy four or more, and Tareudang's restrained sweetness makes it a gift-worthy Gyeongju dessert worth buying again.

Where is Tareudang? The orange-awning takeout shop in Hwangnidang-gil
Tareudang is a fruit mochi takeout specialist at 49 Sajeong-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk, in the Hwangnidang-gil area. It's open 11:00-19:00, and if you walk from the Olive Young intersection in Hwangnidang-gil toward the 7-Eleven, you'll spot the orange awning from a distance.

It's a takeout-only spot, so they're making and selling mochi right there in a small shop! I visited Tareudang, one of the currently hot dessert spots in Gyeongju's Hwangnidang-gil. It's in the same alley as Ichini Sando, famous for fruit sando, so it's really easy to find.

Tareudang mochi menu and prices

The menu on Naver was slightly different from what was actually out in the shop, but here's what I saw when I went:
- Raw chocolate mochi🍫 - ₩5,0(00)
- Shine Muscat mochi🍇 - ₩6,5(00)
- Pineapple mochi🍍 - ₩5,5(00)
- Gold kiwi mochi🥝 - ₩5,5(00)
- Mango mochi🥭 - ₩7,5(00)
- Melon mochi🍈 - ₩6,5(00)

That's what was ready that day! My final three picks were peach, gold kiwi, and raw chocolate. The colorful individual wrapping is so pretty and clean it'd be perfect for a gift or a thank-you treat too. (Since it's loaded with fresh fruit, though, I'd strongly recommend eating it the same day!) All my past disappointment from other shops just melted away — 100% repurchase intent.
They also rotate seasonal flavors like musk melon, grape, kara orange, and strawberry. One whole Tareudang giant mochi is enough to actually fill you up, so you can eat it so happily hahaha. And these mochi taste wholesome enough for both adults and kids, so they'd be perfect as a gift too🎁

500 won off each mochi when you buy four or more

Since Tareudang uses in-season fresh fruit, keep in mind the lineup shifts a bit depending on when you visit! On the day I went, they had raw chocolate, peach, mango, Shine Muscat, pineapple, and gold kiwi.
Also, buying 4 or more mochi gets you ₩500 off per piece, so if you're stocking up, keep that tip in mind! Fruit and rice cake — a combo I simply can't resist💗 If you want a can't-miss delicious dessert in Hwangnidang-gil, I recommend Tareudang!!!

Just-made mochi, plus egg tarts and cheese tarts
While I waited for my order at Tareudang, I could see them making mochi nonstop in a corner of the shop! Freshly made mochi is actually even better — chewy, soft mochi, yay~~ If you don't see a flavor in the display case, it might be in another fridge, so it's worth asking! If you're traveling a long way, I'd recommend a cooler bag — the weather's hot, so the whipped cream melts fast...

They also sell egg tarts besides mochi! Pastry-style egg tarts, so I bet they're extra flaky! Tareudang is known for its giant mochi, but it's actually also a hot spot for tarts. All the tarts are baked fresh every morning, following a
