We visited around 6pm, and parking at the Hoam-dong Administrative Welfare Center was wide open and roomy, so we parked stress-free with plenty of space and headed in.

Beef set 69,000 won, pork set 66,000 won

Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant's menu has a whole beef set for ₩69,000, a half set for ₩39,000, a whole pork set for ₩66,000, and a half pork set for ₩38,000. The prices were reasonable, so my husband and I decided to spend a little extra and go for the whole beef set!

Footballer Koo Ja-cheol's autograph and boots on display

As soon as we walked in, we saw a photo of the owner and thought he looked familiar — turns out the restaurant is run by the family (older brother) of footballer Koo Ja-cheol. There was even his autograph and a pair of his shoes on display, which made for a fun little browse.

Is Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant good for a family dinner?

Overall, Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant's space was spacious and pleasant. Korean BBQ places can often have lingering smells or slippery floors that make you worry about slipping, but this place was clean throughout, with wide tables and seating — great for a family meal or a gathering with friends.

It's reassuring to be able to see and pick your meat yourself, and the restaurant manages premium aging techniques to make the meat even more flavorful.

There's a self-serve side-dish bar off to one side where you can freely grab more of whatever's running low, and there's also onion sauce, scallion seasoning, and sesame oil dipping sauce prepared nearby.

There's also a kids zone inside the restaurant, which I really liked — it means families can eat with peace of mind while the kids play separately. Kids can get into trouble the moment you look away, and running around near the grills in a BBQ restaurant is dangerous, so this space lets adults eat comfortably.

There's a camera installed above the play area, so you can check in on your child periodically while eating, which is reassuring.

What's in the 600g beef set: the four cuts

Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant is known for its premium aged beef and pork, and while the pork was surely delicious too, I was curious about the beef, so we went with that. Next time, I'll try the pork!

At a BBQ restaurant, the side dishes matter a lot too. We got pickled radish, steamed egg, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and more, plus jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) served under the scallion salad, which we could mix into a tangy-sweet noodle dish ourselves.

Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant's beef set is ₩69,000. It came with 4 different cuts — jingalbisal, bone-in short rib, chadolbagi flat cut, and beef brisket — totaling 600g.

The side dishes were varied and generous, so eating them alongside the meat was plenty filling.

How did the grilled beef taste?

The moment the meat hit the grill, the golden-browning visual alone had my mouth watering. Meat really is best fresh off the grill, wrapped up warm in a lettuce wrap! The quality was excellent, and the flavor followed suit.

Taking a big bite of the nicely browned meat, the texture was rich and tender in the mouth, so I kept reaching for more.

Wrapping it with fresh vegetables especially made everything come together beautifully, doubling the sense of fullness.

Look at that gorgeous meat — the photos don't even do it justice. The biggest advantage of ordering the whole beef set is getting to try a variety of cuts all at once.

If you're looking for a great BBQ restaurant in Chungju, I'd recommend giving Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant a visit ❤️
