Yeouido beef BBQ restaurant in Seoul: jingalbisal seconds at Yuk Lab

In short

Yuk Lab Yeouido is a beef and lamb restaurant with private rooms on the 2nd floor of the Yeouido Shopping Center (여의도종합상가), a short walk from Exit 5 of Yeouido Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The order was jingalbisal (thick-cut marbled short rib), garlic soy-marinated short ribs, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and naengmyeon (cold noodles), and the jingalbisal was good enough to warrant one extra serving. With rooms divided for easy conversation and strong ventilation, Yuk Lab Yeouido is the answer for a private Korean BBQ dinner in Yeouido.

Today I went to Yuk Lab Yeouido, a spot where you can enjoy Korean BBQ privately in Yeouido. There are plenty of company dinner spots around Yeouido, but finding somewhere your group can actually talk quietly is surprisingly tricky. Yuk Lab has seats divided into private rooms, so it works well for everything from dates to family gatherings, wedding announcement meetups, and company dinners.

Where is Yuk Lab Yeouido, and where do you park?

Yuk Lab Yeouido is on the 2nd floor of Yeoui-do Jonghap Sangga, close to Exit 5 of Yeouido Station. It's a quick walk from the subway station, so it was easy to reach by public transit.

If you're driving, use the Yeoui-do Jonghap Sangga parking lot and come up through the back door. Parking fees may apply separately, though I heard it's sometimes free after 8pm — worth double-checking on site the day you visit.

Going up to the 2nd floor, you'll see the Yuk Lab entrance decorated in black.

Various types of liquor were displayed even from outside, which made me think it'd be nice for a casual drink alongside the meat.

On one side of the entrance, there was Febreze and toothpicks ready to go. (Nice touch..!) The little consideration of thinking about the smell that lingers on your clothes after a BBQ meal felt pretty thoughtful.

Private rooms at Yuk Lab Yeouido: 2 to 16 people

The inside of Yuk Lab Yeouido has a calm atmosphere built around black tones. What I liked most was that the seating is divided into private rooms.

I didn't have to worry about conversations from nearby tables, so I could chat comfortably with my group while eating. It can accommodate groups from 2 up to 16 people, so it looks great for dates, family gatherings, friend meetups, or company dinners. Even though we grilled meat inside the room, the ventilation seemed good — barely any meat smell lingered on our clothes afterward.

Yuk Lab Yeouido menu and what comes with it

Yuk Lab is a place where you can enjoy beef menus, including Australian and American wagyu, alongside lamb. Beyond the meat types, the sides and drink options were varied too, which was nice for a group to order according to individual taste.

Table spread with basic side dishes and sauces

What we ordered that day was jingalbisal, garlic soy-marinated short ribs, doenjang jjigae, and naengmyeon. The basic side dishes came out in a good variety — kimchi, pickled onions, peppers, myeongi namul, and more. The sauces to go with the meat were also varied, from salt, wasabi, and whole grain mustard to garlic and ssamjang-style dips, so it was fun changing up the combination with each bite.

Jingalbisal: the cut worth a second serving

The jingalbisal we tried first was especially delicious among the meats ordered at Yuk Lab Yeouido that day. The marbling was vivid, and as soon as it went on the charcoal grill, a glossy sheen came up on the surface.

Eating it while it still had some moisture left, without overcooking it, really brought out the juiciness and nutty flavor.

Jingalbisal grilling over charcoal

At first I dipped it lightly in just salt to taste the meat itself, then later added wasabi or whole grain mustard. The mood changed with each sauce, so even eating the same meat didn't get tiring.

Extra order of jingalbisal plated nicely

It was so good I ordered another serving. When you order extra, it comes out plated nicely like this.

Garlic soy-marinated short ribs with rice and naengmyeon

The garlic soy-marinated short ribs had a clear, sweetish garlic seasoning flavor. The seasoning was on the stronger side, so it worked better paired with warm rice rather than eating the meat alone.

Eating it together with the naengmyeon we ordered afterward, the cool broth and seasoned ribs went well together. If jingalbisal is on the light and nutty side, garlic short ribs would suit anyone wanting something richer and bolder.

Finishing with doenjang jjigae and cold naengmyeon

The doenjang jjigae came out bubbling, generously loaded with onion, zucchini, and mushrooms. Sipping the warm broth between bites of meat cleansed the palate and let me refocus on the meat.

Doenjang jjigae served alongside white rice

Paired with white rice too, it confirmed that the rule of finishing a BBQ meal with doenjang jjigae exists for good reason.

A generous bowl of dessert naengmyeon

We finished up with cool naengmyeon. Given the price, I expected the usual small dessert-portion naengmyeon, but it wasn't a two-bite deal at all — the portion was quite generous!

Naengmyeon topped with a piece of garlic short rib

Eating just the noodles cleanly is nice, but I'd recommend topping it with a piece of garlic short rib. The naengmyeon broth cuts through the rich rib seasoning refreshingly, letting you enjoy it deliciously right to the end.

Is Yuk Lab Yeouido worth it? Final verdict

  • Great accessibility, close to Yeouido Station
  • Private dining in individual rooms
  • Wide variety of side dishes, sauces, and drinks
  • Thoughtful touch of Febreze at the entrance
