My Busan guy of a husband loves pork gukbap-style meals, so we had to try this pork gomtang at Lotte Department Store 🤩

Whenever I passed the B1 food zone, I thought it looked like somewhere we could eat with the baby, so I wanted to try it >< Baekok Dongtan reinterprets traditional pork gomtang in a modern way, serving modern Korean food centered on clear, mild pork gomtang!

Ordering pork gomtang and yeol-gomtang

We ordered pork gomtang (₩12,000) and yeol-gomtang (₩13,000).

Baekok Dongtan has such a neat atmosphere 🧡 Since it is inside the department store, it is easy to find too! It is in a great spot when you are looking for a good lunch near Dongtan Station or want a hearty meal while visiting Lotte Department Store 😊

There were people dining alone, and the kids' gukbap (₩7,000) caught my eye too 👍👶

A variety of dishes are waiting for you. There are set menus, so for big eaters, I recommend the set with cabbage dumplings too 👌

Mild pork gomtang with plenty of meat

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was, of course, the pork gomtang! As Baekok Dongtan's signature dish, it came loaded with meat 🥣

As soon as the bowl arrived, the steam rising from the warm broth somehow made me feel warm all the way inside. And I loved that it had such a generous amount of meat 😍 The first taste was mild, clean broth. Since it is gomtang with pork, the broth could easily feel heavy or have an unpleasant smell, but it tasted clean and my husband enjoyed it too 😉

The meat was tender too, so it was easy to eat with the broth and seemed like a good dish to give a baby 👶👍 Personally, mild, clean gomtang like this suits me better than heavily seasoned food! Even though I had it at lunch, it kept me quite full into the afternoon 😚 🍚 The rice comes in the soup, so once I started eating the rice and broth together, the bowl disappeared in no time 😂

Yeol-gomtang that even a spice wimp could eat

My husband ordered the yeol-gomtang. The red pepper powder gave it a spicy 🌶 kick, but it was a little less spicy than Shin Ramyun 😉 Even I, a total spice wimp, could eat it :) On days when you are craving warm soup like these days, a dish like this is really the best!

My husband finished every last bite 😆👏 Because the food is not intensely seasoned, I think it would have relatively few people who dislike it, and it seemed fine for adults and babies to eat together too. When you think of a gomtang restaurant, it is easy to picture the rustic atmosphere of an old local favorite, but Baekok Dongtan feels comparatively clean and comfortable, making it a good fit for solo dining or a Dongtan lunch get-together 😉

They thoughtfully gave us dental floss and mouthwash too ><❣️

A hearty meal near Dongtan Station

Overall, I was satisfied after eating here. Above all, it is inside Lotte Department Store Dongtan, so parking is convenient and it is easy to reach when looking for somewhere to eat near Dongtan Station; you can get it to go too ♡ Pork gomtang is not a dish you come across all the time, so I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try a slightly different kind of gomtang. I loved being able to have a clean broth and plenty of meat for a satisfying meal 👌
