Seohyeon Korean restaurant: beansprout-loaded galbijjim, Gimcheongja

Today I'm introducing Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch, a lunch spot near Seohyeon Station! As the weather cools down I keep craving something spicy, and this place really hit the spot!

Where is Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch, and how do you get there?

The address of Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch is 16 Hwangsaeul-ro 330beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, 2nd floor. This Seohyeon Station favorite is only about 2 minutes from Exit 4 — so close!

There's a huge sign out front, so it's easy to spot at a glance. Since it's on the 2nd floor of the Cheonji Officetel building, there's a separate entrance for the restaurant floor! The Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim sign glows nicely under pretty lighting.

It's a pretty large restaurant, actually!

Being a well-known Seohyeon spot, there was a long row of waiting seats lined up out front too. 😎

What the room feels like: still seats free at 1pm

Even past 1pm there were quite a few customers, but since the space is big and wide, I could eat comfortably. There's a separate section off to the side that looks good for small gatherings or a casual work dinner.

There were celebrity autographs scattered around — looks like some famous faces have stopped by!

• Parking: 2 hours free with in-building parking, but note it's a mechanical parking system
• Notes: takeout available, groups welcome, takeout discount, one free corkage (excluding alcohol sold in-store)

SUVs and larger vehicles can't really use the mechanical parking inside the building. I'd recommend the nearby Seohyeon Station transfer public parking lot instead!

We ordered pork spicy galbijjim, ₩16,000 × 2.

The lunch set menu is popular, especially among office workers around Seohyeon Station. You can choose beef or pork galbijjim and adjust the spice level. Write a review and you even get a free cheese add-on! Definitely worth doing. 😋

What we ordered was pork spicy galbijjim, medium spice.

We love stirring beansprouts into the spicy galbijjim! They're delicious on their own too, and

kimchi and perilla leaves

and macaroni salad, which helps cool down the heat.

Ordering the spicy galbijjim comes with warm steamed egg with chopped scallions and rice, no extra charge.

Medium-spice pork galbijjim, simmered 3–4 minutes at the table

The spicy pork galbijjim came out smelling sweet and spicy! It's almost fully cooked in the kitchen already, so you just need to simmer it for 3–4 minutes until the glass noodles cook through.

We added extra beansprouts too, to bring out a refreshing flavor.

The glass noodles and rice cakes cook right along with it.

Not just aggressively spicy — the balance of sweet and salty seasoning really stands out.

The ribs have a great ratio of lean meat to fat, and the spicy seasoning soaks in well.

The meat came off the bone smoothly and was easy to eat. And the portion is really generous! I kept pulling meat off and it just kept coming, haha. Even the fattier parts were tender and not greasy at all, so it was actually easy to eat without feeling too dry. There's bone in there, but it's braised so thoroughly that it was very easy to pick apart. 😍

Eating the egg custard, glass noodles and rice cakes together

The steamed egg with fresh scallions is basically a secret weapon against the spice!

It's mild and soft, probably seasoned that way on purpose to pair with the spicy galbijjim — an absolute must-have alongside it. Add in the spicy, chewy glass noodles and you get a variety of textures to enjoy.

The rice cakes really soak up the seasoning — total rice thief. I'd recommend eating them quickly before they get too soft! 😆

So that was my visit to Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch, a well-loved spot near Seohyeon Station. The spicy galbijjim had that sweet-spicy seasoning soaked in well, and with chewy rice cake, glass noodles, and steamed egg all included at no extra cost, it felt like great value and left me feeling pretty content.
