How spicy is mild? Seohyeon Station braised rib spot Gimcheongja
In short
Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch is a spicy braised rib (galbijjim) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Cheonji Officetel near Seohyeon Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a late-evening visit the writer ordered the mild-heat pork galbijjim and added egg custard and flat glass noodles, but even the mild version was quite spicy, so spice-shy diners should always pick mild at Gimcheongja. A good pick for a stressful day when you want to mix a whole bowl of rice into something fiery.

A Seohyeon Station Korean restaurant favorite — I ate so well at Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Branch and blew off all my stress with this spicy dish, so here's my review!

Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim near Seohyeon Station was full even at a late dinner
Here's the interior of the Seohyeon branch :) It's spacious with lots of tables, and even though I went late, there were a lot of people there~ Seems like there's always a wait at lunchtime haha. On my way out I noticed the waitlist had a ton of names written down~ Next time I'll come check the timing before heading over haha.

Pork ribs or beef ribs — the flat glass noodles are already in the pot
Here's the menu :) You can choose between pork ribs and beef ribs haha. You can also add noodles, so I ordered some, but it turned out later that they were already included, so no need to order them separately!
There are also fried items like kimmari (seaweed roll) and sweet potato that kids love, so next time I'll come with my kid and try a bunch of things :)

Pink sausage among the banchan, and perilla leaves worth wrapping with just rice
The basic side dishes get set up :) It's been so long since I've seen pink sausage >< Such nostalgia — my husband and I ended up chatting for a while about pink sausage memories from high school haha.

And the essential Zero Coke! lol

Even before the main dish arrived, wrapping rice in perilla leaves was already so tasty~
It felt like home cooking haha. Just the rice with the other side dishes alone was so good?

Why egg custard is the perfect partner for spicy galbijjim
I also ordered egg custard, and it was delicious, but it's really a must-have partner side dish for the spicy braised ribs ><

The soft, fluffy egg texture was so good haha, and it went so well with rice too — I think I'll definitely order egg custard again next time haha.

Spicy galbijjim arrives in a tin pot and bubbles within 1-2 minutes
The dish I ordered came out quickly :) Served in a yellow tin pot, it started bubbling really fast~
I added flat glass noodles not knowing how much it would be, and it turned out to be a lot lol.

After about 1-2 minutes it started bubbling nicely haha.

As it started bubbling and looking hearty, the spicy galbijjim's visuals were on point haha. The ribs were well coated in the spicy sauce, so you take a bite of meat and immediately reach for a spoonful of rice! So so good...
Especially the sauce is the type that keeps making you crave more, so it went really well with plain white rice haha.

How did the spicy pork galbijjim at Gimcheongja taste?
The pork spicy galbijjim had ribs braised until tender and soft, deeply soaked in a spicy-sweet sauce haha. The meat had no gamey smell and was tender, and thanks to the fat evenly distributed among the lean meat, it wasn't dry but moist~
The spicy sauce soaked all the way into the meat, so with the first bite you get a sweet umami flavor first, followed by a sharp spiciness — the kind of spicy that keeps you coming back for more lol. Especially as the sauce reduced down, it blended with the savory pork flavor perfectly for mixing into rice!!

How spicy is the mild option, really? A note for spice-shy diners
Even the mild option we ordered was quite spicy~ If you're spice-shy, definitely go with mild haha. If you love spicy food, this is the ultimate rice-thief dish~ This is truly the Seohyeon Station Korean restaurant you have to eat at on a stressful day.
Good for visiting with a group to share, and a great spot when you're looking for a hearty Seohyeon Station Korean restaurant meal. Especially recommended for a day when you're craving something spicy and fiery instead of an ordinary meal haha. If you're wondering what to eat near Seohyeon Station today, go try the spicy galbijjim with a full bowl of rice at Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Branch ><
