Hyehwa restaurant for a kid-friendly three-dish western set: Omil

In short

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a Western-style restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, about 2-3 minutes on foot from Hyehwa Station Exit 4. The writer ordered omurice, bacon cream pasta, and salmon steak gnocchi to share with a child, and the rich cream pasta paired with grilled salmon and chewy potato gnocchi made for a full spread. With a baby chair available, it's an easy spot for a meal during a Daehangno outing with kids.

Western-style spread at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno enjoyed with a kid

With the cool breeze starting to blow morning and evening, I've really been enjoying walking time with my kid these days. When it was hot, even a short walk would tire us out, but now there's a real pleasure in strolling slowly and looking around the Daehangno alleys.

This time we went on an outing to Hyehwa with my kid and stopped by the newly opened Omil Hyehwa Daehangno. There were plenty of menu items my kid would like, so I wanted to introduce this place to anyone looking for somewhere to eat pasta in Hyehwa with a child.

Being close to Hyehwa Station meant we didn't have to walk far with my kid, which was nice. The restaurant itself was cute yet clean, making it a comfortable atmosphere for both a Daehangno date and a family meal out.

Omurice — of course a kid favorite

We ordered three dishes: omurice, bacon cream pasta, and salmon steak gnocchi. Omurice is a menu item whose visuals alone catch a kid's eye. The soft egg and the sweet-and-sour sauce came together into a taste that was familiar and easy to eat.

Whenever we go to a new restaurant with my kid, the first thing I check is 'is there something they'll actually eat?' — so having omurice on the menu was reassuring, haha.

Rich, thick bacon cream pasta

If you're looking for pasta in Hyehwa to eat with your kid, the bacon cream pasta was solid too. The cream sauce wasn't a thin style — it was quite thick and rich, with bacon and mushrooms giving it a savory, salty edge.

If you like cream pasta, this one should satisfy you! Ordering three dishes together meant we could switch between them, so it never felt too heavy.

The salmon and gnocchi combo is pretty good too

Personally, I was curious about the salmon steak gnocchi. If you only order pasta and omurice, the menu can start to feel a bit similar, but the salmon and gnocchi made the whole spread much fuller.

It's a combination of grilled salmon with chewy potato gnocchi, so the texture was fun, and if you like anything creamy, this one will especially suit you. With a kid, rather than a spicy dish, pairing omurice, cream pasta, and salmon gnocchi like this makes it easy to share a bit of everything.

A solid new spot for a Daehangno outing with kids

We often visit Daehangno with my kid to see plays or performances, but finding somewhere comfortable for the whole family to eat can be a bit of a headache. Omil has a wide range of options — from pasta to omurice, risotto, and katsu — plus a baby chair, so it seemed like a solid choice for a family meal out.

Fitting for a newly opened place, the restaurant was clean, and the dishes looked pretty, making it a nice meal to enjoy with a kid while feeling a little special.

On a nice autumn day like this, just walking the Hyehwa alleys and eating something good made for a full weekend outing on its own. If you're looking for a place to eat pasta in Hyehwa with your kid or a new restaurant in Daehangno, give Omil Hyehwa Daehangno a try.

Ordering the three dishes we did — omurice, bacon cream pasta, and salmon steak gnocchi — turned out to be a good combination for kids and adults to share. I'd recommend it as a Daehangno outing course with your kid this cool autumn.
