Hyehwa set menu for two, bacon cream pasta at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno
In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a pasta restaurant on the 2nd floor of the food alley near Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul, open less than a month. Two women ordered a drink-included set menu with bacon cream pasta, sizzling cheese cutlet, and soba maki before a show, and the bacon cream pasta was the standout while all three dishes together made for a genuinely generous portion. With its cute, tidy interior, it's a good pick for a Daehangno date meal.

I grabbed a meal in Hyehwa on my way to see a show!
Omil's Hyehwa branch near Exit 4, its third location, open less than a month
I visited the newly opened Hyehwa branch of Omil. It's apparently their third location and it's still piping hot, less than a month old. It's located in the food alley near Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station.

The Omil Hyehwa store is on the 2nd floor, up a flight of stairs. There's a sign on the left of the storefront, and on the right it says "Oh! Mil" — it kind of looks fake, but it's real, haha.

Here's the cute little entrance you find after climbing the stairs. Since the interior is visible, I cropped the shot a bit!

Vibe and seating
The interior is genuinely cute and neatly decorated.

It's not a huge space, but there are quite a few tables.

Even the decorations look like they only collected the fluffiest, softest-looking ones ㅠㅠ you know what I mean.

The basic side dish, pickles, is self-serve — grab it along with water on the right side.

Neat little beet-colored pickles.

Two women, the set menu we ordered
Order placed: drink-included set menu (most items that normally cost extra can be chosen) — sizzling cheese cutlet / bacon cream pasta / soba maki / orange juice, Sprite
For two women... yes!! Of course it was a lot, hahahahaha. Just those two single dishes (excluding the maki) would've already been plenty. But I saw reviews raving about both the cheese cutlet and the soba maki so I got curious ㅠㅠ. Think of the set as saving you about the price of one drink, and pricier menu items just get a surcharge added on.

The drinks came out first. They thoughtfully gave us an ice cup with the Sprite. The color looked prettier in this shot so I only photographed the can, haha. Natural light really is the best.

Bacon cream pasta, my favorite of the three dishes
They brought the dishes out in order as they were ready! This is the bacon cream pasta, my favorite of the three, and I pretty much scraped the plate clean.
I expected a standard cream pasta, but what set it apart was that the cream sauce had a slightly brownish tint, which made me think it might have a bit of a mushroom base — instead of the usual sweet, soup-like cream taste, it had a calmer, more restrained cream flavor. Also, the little squares you see throughout are bacon — whole-cut bacon with real bite, so you don't even need to order a separate meat dish. With mushrooms and a bit of greenery in there too, it felt like a well-rounded, almost healthy pasta... you have to try it!

The noodles were the standard type you'd expect, and I liked that the noodles themselves weren't heavily seasoned.

The bacon had good texture.

Sizzling cheese cutlet, bubbles the moment the sauce hits
And out of curiosity we also ordered the sizzling cheese cutlet. What's laid underneath is onion, seemingly placed there so nothing burns (you can eat it too, haha).

When they bring the sauce over and pour it on, it goes sizzle sizzle!!! It's a fun dish.

When you cut it with a knife~

It has the feel of a cheese hamburg steak — the meat itself isn't sweet, but the sauce side is fairly sweet.

Compared to the pasta sauce, this one is thinner and sweeter, but it's a good sauce too. They really know how to do a cream sauce~

Soba maki — a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it dish
I ordered the soba maki thinking of it as more of a side dish... but the portion turned out to be quite large.

Inside there's egg, cucumber, soba noodles, and thin strips of fried tofu skin — basically a bunch of the same fillings you'd find in gimbap!

The egg is on the moist side and the noodles are soft in texture, so personally I think this dish could be a bit love-it-or-hate-it — just something to keep in mind!
That's my visit to Omil, a pasta spot in Hyehwa — the store is cute, tidy, and the dishes all look great too!! I think it'd be a great pick for anyone having a date in Daehangno.
