Solo lunch, 5 fried snacks and spicy set at IFC Mall: Hyeonseonine

Today I'm introducing Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, a spicy tteokbokki and Korean snack restaurant with draft beer in IFC Mall, Yeouido, Seoul.

Location and seating at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is located on basement level 2 of IFC Mall, along the food street on the way to the subway station.

The inside is clean and there were more seats than I expected. Lots of solo diners too, so it's great for eating alone!!!!

When the store is full, there's outdoor seating right next door as well.

The menu — instant tteokbokki and even draft beer

Here's the menu board at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch. There's tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), and various side dishes, plus even instant-style tteokbokki hahaha. And draft beer too!!!!!! A snack food + draft beer combo, what more can I say~~~~~~~ (there are various set menu options too, so if you're going with a group, I recommend a set).

The Hyeonseonine Set for ₩23,000

I ordered the Hyeonseonine Set. It's a combo of tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap (seaweed rice roll). It came out as a really generous, full spread haha.

A hot eomuk (fish cake) broth comes with it too haha. It's hot, so be careful.

Just how spicy is the spicy tteokbokki?

Tteokbokki comes in mild, medium, and spicy — since I love spicy food, I went with spicy~~~~ Hyeonseonine's spicy is genuinely spicy and genuinely delicious haha. (If you're not great with spice, don't even try it, no no no no.) And they give you plenty of broth too, so top marks bbbbbb

You've got to scoop it up with a spoon along with the broth for the real flavor bbb. The rice cakes are super chewy, and the fish cakes are thin, so the sauce soaks right in.

Stick it on your chopsticks and get a big mouthful. It's so spicy it's ridiculously good bbb. After a few bites your insides get properly hot.

Sundae with real intestines mixed in

The sundae also came out freshly steamed, so it was super moist. A lot of snack restaurants leave out the intestines, but Hyeonseonine includes them — nice, nice.

Such moist sundae~~~~ As for the sundae skin, I like it thick, and Hyeonseonine's is on the thicker side, so it has good texture too — so good.

Dip the sundae in salt, or in the broth~~~ No off-putting smell at all, genuinely delicious haha.

Good combo with pickled radish too.

I'm a liver-lover, and the liver here isn't dry at all. Dipped it in salt, nom nom.

5 kinds of fried snacks — mandu, sweet potato, vegetable, squid, kimmari

I was surprised by how much fried food came out too. A 5-piece set: mandu (dumplings), sweet potato, mixed vegetable, squid, and kimmari (fried seaweed rolls).

The squid fritter was totally crispy outside, tender inside! The batter was really crunchy and the squid was soft.

Dip it deep in the broth and it's amazing.

The mandu and kimmari were great too, nom nom. The frying here is really crispy. A fried snack hotspot bbb.

The vegetable fritter was big and chunky too — nice.

The sweet potato fritter is sweet haha. Sweet + spicy combo, nice.

4 rolls of mini gimbap

You get 4 rolls of mini gimbap. It comes pre-cut in half so it's easy to eat!

Even though it's mini gimbap, it's packed with spinach, pickled radish, ham, and egg.

Dipping it in the broth is great~~~

Haha I guess I was really hungry — I completely demolished it. Eating the gimbap too made me really full haha.
