Namyangju brunch with a Bukhangang River view

I wanted a relaxed brunch in Namyangju, so I visited MR, a brunch café with a lovely Bukhangang River view 😊 There are so many pretty cafés along the river in Namyangju.

MR had such a wide range of brunch dishes and plenty of outdoor space, so it looked perfect for a drive on a nice day haha. We ordered the spicy cream curry udon and Mountain Burger, and the portions were more generous than we expected, so we left feeling nicely full 👍

Is parking easy?

🚗 Easy parking at MR in Namyangju

MR's large private parking lot in front of the café

When I visit cafés in Namyangju, parking is secretly one of the things I really look at 🚗 MR has a large parking lot in the yard right in front, so there was absolutely zero parking stress. There was plenty of room, making it a nice place to stop for brunch while driving along the Bukhangang River. At big cafés and brunch cafés in Namyangju, parking can be the first worry on weekends, but I loved how spacious MR's parking was haha. The wide Bukhangang River view right in front also makes it ideal for unwinding!

An entrance welcomed by a stone path and greenery

After parking and heading toward the entrance, the first thing you see is MR's photo-zone mirror 🪞 The path leading to the entrance is a stone path rather than ordinary pavement, which gave it a warm, welcoming feel.

MR exterior blending into green surroundings

Blending in with the lush green surroundings, it felt less like a city café and more like a little trip away 😊 It was nice to look around and take photos even before brunch.

A varied menu from salads to burgers

📋 MR's varied menu, from salads and pasta to burgers

MR menu with salads and burgers

MR had far more brunch options than I expected. For salads, there were ricotta salad and mushroom salad 🥗 Pasta and noodle dishes included vongole, carbonara, spicy carbonara, curry udon, and pomodoro. There were also lots of burgers: the Mountain Burger, Mushroom Burger, Bacon Cheese Burger, Chili Cheese Burger, and Bulgogi Burger 🍔

Everything was in the ₩20,000 range. You can order drinks too, so it felt like a Namyangju brunch café better suited to a proper meal than just a quick coffee. With so many choices, it would be easy for a group to each find something they like haha. We ordered curry udon, a Mountain Burger, and cola!

The feel of the outdoor and indoor seating

🌳 Outdoor seating for enjoying the Bukhangang River breeze

Outdoor seating for enjoying the Bukhangang River breeze

MR has outdoor seating as well as indoor seating, so you can enjoy brunch outside too 🌳 The weather was beginning to cool down, but it was still hot during the day when we visited, so we sat indoors. Once it gets a little cooler, though, I would personally love to eat outside. If you visit on a nice day while driving around the Bukhangang River, relaxing over brunch at an outdoor table would be lovely 😊

🪴 MR's plant-filled interior

Once inside, the first things that caught my eye were the lush green plants placed throughout the café 🪴

Café interior combining wood tones and plants

There were so many varieties that it was fun to look at them one by one while waiting. The plants blended naturally into the wood-toned space, making the whole place feel relaxing. Sleek, modern cafés are nice too these days, but spaces with this natural feeling have a different charm haha.

The self-service bar and seating

MR self-service bar for plates and tableware

You can pick up any tableware you need, such as plates, spoons, and forks, directly from the self-service bar 🍴 Everything was organized in one place, so it was easy to grab and use.

A cutely decorated corner also caught my eye. Rather than being an overly elaborate space, it had plants and little decorative items naturally arranged together, making it fun to look around 😊

🪑 A Namyangju café with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating

MR's relaxed indoor seating

From what I saw, there were around eight tables inside. It did not feel like an enormous café, but there was also ample outdoor seating, so it was easy to sit comfortably overall. It seemed especially well suited to anyone who wants a relaxed brunch in nature rather than somewhere cramped and bustling 🌿

Spicy cream curry udon and the Mountain Burger

🍔 Our spicy cream curry udon + Mountain Burger order

A full spread of spicy cream curry udon and a Mountain Burger

After some deliberation, we ordered spicy cream curry udon, the Mountain Burger, and cola. When all the food came out together, I was surprised by how generous the spread was haha. The burger did not come alone—it came with fries—and the curry udon was plentiful too, so it was a satisfying meal for two 😋

Fragrant, filling spicy cream curry udon

🍜 Spicy, clean-tasting, fragrant, and generous spicy cream curry udon

Spicy cream curry udon topped with onion and arugula

The photo looks a little more yellow than it did in real life because of the yellow lighting. The spicy cream curry udon was topped generously with onion, arugula, katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes), and more. The curry aroma and katsuobushi flavor made it fragrant, while the cream added a smooth richness 🍜 Above all, there were plenty of noodles, so it was more filling than it looked. I thought brunch might be a light bite, but this felt like a proper full meal haha.

🥤 Cold cola with the burger and curry udon

Cola served alongside burger and curry udon

We also ordered the essential cold cola to go with our burgers 🥤 Both the Mountain Burger and spicy cream curry udon had rich flavors, so a cool sip of cola now and then was just perfect haha.

🍜 Chewy udon noodles of just the right thickness

Udon noodles coated in cream curry sauce

The spicy cream curry udon's noodles were neither too thick nor too thin, just the right thickness to eat comfortably. The sauce coated every strand well, so I could taste both the curry and cream flavors 😋

Noodles and sauce from the spicy cream curry udon

There was a spicy kick behind the soft creaminess, so it did not become overly rich even as I kept eating. If you want a slightly different brunch dish rather than regular pasta, this would be a good choice haha.

The Mountain Burger layered high with toppings

🍔 The generously topped Mountain Burger

🤤 A thick Mountain Burger that was hard to eat in one bite

Mountain Burger stacked generously with toppings

The burger was packed with toppings—vegetables, cheese, a beef patty, egg, tomato, and more. I could see why it was called the Mountain Burger just from the look of it haha. The ingredients were layered high, so it looked filling, and the thick beef patty in particular gave it a real meaty flavor.

Mountain Burger cross-section with a thick patty and fillings

Doesn't the Mountain Burger cross-section look so appetizing? haha 🍔 From the patty to the fillings, it was so thick that it was hard to eat in one bite. Eating the beef patty, cheese, egg, tomato, and vegetables all together, every ingredient worked well together. The special sauce also kept the burger from being dry and made it taste even better. Personally, I prefer a properly generous burger like this over a small handmade burger, so I was satisfied 😊

Thick-cut fries

🍟 Thick, pleasantly salty fries

The fries that came with it were not too thin, but a nicely thick-cut style 🍟 They were seasoned just right and tasted good even on their own.

The end of a brunch meal at MR

A great stop on a Bukhangang River drive

If you want to take a Bukhangang River drive in Namyangju and enjoy a relaxed brunch too, MR is worth a visit 😊 Above all, its large parking lot in front made it convenient to visit by car, and I liked that it had plentiful outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. There were diverse options from salads and pasta to udon and burgers, and both the spicy cream curry udon and Mountain Burger we ordered were generously portioned and filling. When the weather gets a little cooler, I would like to sit outside next time and enjoy brunch with the atmosphere around the Bukhangang River haha 💚
