Looking for a Korean restaurant with a great atmosphere in Gangnam?
Looking for a different kind of Gangnam date spot, rather than the usual pasta or barbecue restaurant? I visited Moa Gangnam, where you can try distinctive fusion Korean food! From brisket sundubu kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup with soft tofu) to abalone mushroom butter pot rice and spicy tomato Korean beef tteokgalbi (grilled minced beef patties), there were plenty of dishes that gave familiar Korean food a new twist. It is somewhere I would recommend for a Gangnam Station date.

Each dish arrived beautifully presented too, making it a nice choice if you are planning a special Gangnam Station date.
A Gangnam Station date restaurant with a lovely atmosphere
There are so many restaurants around Gangnam Station, but when it comes time to pick a Gangnam date spot, it is not easy to find one that delivers both atmosphere and flavor.

Moa Gangnam felt brighter, neater, and warmer than a typical Korean restaurant. The wooden furniture and soft lighting worked beautifully together: it looked ideal for a tidy lunch, and also for dinner with drinks.

Korean food is at the heart of the menu, but Western-style elements appear in the plating and cooking methods, so it feels a little more unusual than an everyday meal!

That makes it a good fit for a Gangnam Station date, a blind date, or a get-together with friends. It is also easy to head to a café or nearby activities afterward, so it works well when planning a full day around places to visit near Gangnam Station.

Naver reservations are available, and there may be a wait on weekends and weekday evenings, so I recommend booking ahead for a Gangnam date or gathering!
There is no dedicated parking. If you bring a car, you will need to use a nearby private parking lot, and considering the parking fee, taking the subway is the easiest option.

Dates, blind dates, wedding-invitation gatherings, and group meals are all possible here, and it is best for everyone in your party to arrive together at the reservation time. Seats fill up quickly for the first dinner seating and on weekends, so I recommend making a Naver reservation rather than walking in!
Fusion Korean dishes that suit a Gangnam Station date

Brisket sundubu kalguksu
The first dish we ordered was brisket sundubu kalguksu! This is a hearty bowl of spicy broth with thinly sliced brisket, silky soft tofu, and chewy hand-cut noodles.

The first bite brought the spicy broth forward, then the rich, nutty flavor of the brisket built as I ate. Instead of being a soft-tofu stew served with rice, it comes with kalguksu noodles, which made it especially filling.

Rather than being overwhelmingly spicy, the broth lets the deep flavor of the brisket come through, so I recommend it if you enjoy a spicy soup dish. It paired especially well with the pot rice or tteokgalbi introduced below, as adding a soup dish made the combination much better. With warm, filling options like this, it is a Gangnam Station date restaurant worth visiting in any season.
Abalone mushroom butter pot rice

Of the three, the most traditionally Korean dish was the abalone mushroom butter pot rice. The moment I opened the lid, the savory aroma of abalone, mushrooms, and butter rose together. Mix the rice and ingredients thoroughly, and the mushrooms’ umami and the butter’s richness blend naturally. The abalone makes it feel special, but the overall flavor is not heavy, making it the easiest of the three dishes for anyone to enjoy.

If you are on a Gangnam date with someone who does not enjoy strongly flavored food, I recommend the abalone mushroom butter pot rice. Rather than ordering the pot rice on its own, try it with the brisket sundubu kalguksu—the mild and spicy flavors go wonderfully together.

If you are looking for a place to visit near Gangnam Station where the atmosphere is not only pretty but the meal is filling too, try ordering this dish!
Spicy tomato Korean beef tteokgalbi

The most distinctive and memorable dish was the spicy tomato Korean beef tteokgalbi. This fusion Korean dish tops Korean beef tteokgalbi with sweet-spicy tomato sauce and cheese. Tteokgalbi is familiar, but eaten with tomato sauce, it tasted quite different from meatballs or hamburger steak.
The juicy tteokgalbi was joined by the nutty richness of cheese and the sweet-tart sauce, giving it the boldest flavor of the three. Put the tteokgalbi and sauce on the bread served alongside it, and you can enjoy it almost like another dish.

If you visit as a pair, try the brisket sundubu kalguksu and abalone mushroom butter pot rice, or add the spicy tomato Korean beef tteokgalbi depending on your preferences. I was happy with this spot as a Gangnam Station date destination, where you can enjoy unusual fusion Korean food in a warm atmosphere! If you are looking for a Gangnam Station place that is not predictable, or a food-focused Gangnam Station date course, it is worth a visit.
