Namyangju Han River restaurant for truffle pasta: Romaok Riverside

Romaok Riverside, which I visited this time, is a hanok-style Italian restaurant right beside Gangbyeonbuk-ro with a view of the Han River.

We ordered the mushroom truffle cream pasta and seaweed scallop risotto, and were happy with both the view and the food. With the weather getting cooler lately, it was just perfect as a driving destination.

Where is it, and what are the hours?

Romaok Riverside is at 16-13 Gangbyeonbuk-ro 632beon-gil in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, near the Namyangju Han River Sports Park parking lot. The hanok-inspired exterior and broad lawn garden had me busy taking photos as soon as I arrived.

For parking, use the Namyangju Han River Park parking lot; the first hour is free. It is open daily from 11:00 to 21:30, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. Last orders are at 14:00 for lunch and 20:30 for dinner, so keep that in mind before visiting. If you arrive right when the break ends, you can go straight in without waiting, which is a useful tip.

The pasta and risotto menu

The menu had quite a variety, including pasta, risotto, and pizza.

We ordered two dishes: mushroom truffle cream pasta and seaweed scallop risotto. Looking at the prices, it seemed designed so you could enjoy a range of dishes without too much of a burden.

When you order, pre-meal bread comes out first. Dipped in olive oil, it was subtly addictive.

Looking at the receipt, the prices felt reasonable for the atmosphere, too.

How was the mushroom truffle cream pasta?

First up, the mushroom truffle cream pasta. The cream sauce was not heavy, and the truffle aroma came through gently, so I just kept eating it.

The pasta was cooked nicely al dente, with a great chew.

Slices of truffle on top gave off such a fragrant aroma. Every bite filled my mouth with truffle, and it struck me as a great dish for a special occasion.

What was the seaweed scallop risotto like?

The second dish was the seaweed scallop risotto. The distinctive aroma of maesaengi (sea lettuce) paired so well with the risotto that it felt quite different.

The scallops were plump and perfectly cooked, with no fishiness at all—just savory and nutty.

The risotto was rich and creamy with a smooth texture, so I kept spooning it up. After finishing the whole bowl, I felt nicely full without it being heavy, which was satisfying.

A receipt review event got us one free Americano, so we enjoyed that cold as well, haha.

Han River views and tips

The building is split across two floors: the first floor is the restaurant, while the second floor is a Han River-view café.

There were quite a lot of guests at lunchtime, so seats filled up quickly.

The tables were generously spaced, and they said groups are welcome, so it seems like a good gathering spot too. I thought it would be equally nice for a family get-together or an anniversary date.

After eating, I stepped out to the Han River walking path for a moment, and the view was truly beautiful. It was so pretty for photos, too. On a nice day, it would be the best.

It has been a while since I found somewhere with both such a great view and great food—I want to come back again!!
