Hongdae restaurant 2-person set with corn fritters: Omil Hongdae

Today I went to Omil, a Western-style restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Hongdae. I was reading reviews before going and the food looked so cute... I was drawn in purely by the visuals. This is Omil, a Hongdae pasta and brunch spot.

Omil Hongdae location and atmosphere

Omil is located in Yeonnam-dong, not far from the station, so it's easy to get to. It's on the 2nd floor and a cute Omil character welcomes you.

It was almost opening time and I was surprised there were already so many people. Seats seemed to fill from the back. It's a great-value pasta place but the vibe felt so upscale and clean!!! It seemed like more groups of girlfriends came than couples haha, playing at being girly girls..?

2-person set side: corn fritters

We ordered the 2-person set menu and chose corn fritters as our side — the visuals on this were insane ;;;;; The taste was kind of like a corn chip? We both love corn haha so we ate it up so happily.

Gochujang butter pasta — was it okay the day after wisdom tooth extraction?

Gochujang butter pasta, aka K-butter pasta. I'd had a wisdom tooth pulled the day before, haha, and was told not to eat anything spicy? But my friend ordered this for herself, and long story short — it was so good I ate a ton of it.

What's on top is, I think, what they called gochujang butter. You just mix it well into the pasta. It's a gochujang pasta but not really spicy — more like a slight kick, so even the day after my wisdom tooth extraction, nothing stung haha. Of course I mostly chewed on the other side.

Spicy and creamy at once — the name gochujang butter really fits this pasta. It went great with the meat on top too, honestly one of the best pastas I've had recently. Once the extraction site heals I want to go back for more haha. They also have other pastas and risottos, so I'm curious to try those next time too!!

Rubber duck omurice, salmon fried rice inside

This is the rubber duck omurice I ordered for myself. This cute rubber duck — I get to take it home with me haha. Since it's summer, the duck comes wearing a little inner tube. Some omurice come with the rubber duck, some don't, so check before you order.

With plating this cute, how could you not order it!!! I picked it because it seemed like the least irritating option on the menu. The egg was rolled fluffy and perfectly, and the sauce was generous enough that eating it with the rice never felt lacking.

Fluffy egg plus moist sauce!!!! The fried rice inside is salmon fried rice — it had a nice pepper aroma, was seasoned just right, and paired well with the sauce. First time having omurice with salmon in it, and the combination was great~

As you eat, the quail eggs end up scattered around like this, which is another cute touch haha. Kind of a strewn-about feel. It's fun to keep looking at while you eat, so I recommend this dish. Ordering the 2-person set meant we could eat a variety of things and get full together, which was so nice. Great value and just the right portion size~!!!

Who should you go with

If you're looking for a Hongdae pasta or brunch spot, I recommend visiting Omil for good value. The menu is cute, charming, and delicious, and it's perfect to visit with friends!! It'd also be great for a date, or even a date with your mom haha. The gochujang butter pasta is genuinely delicious, so I really recommend trying it!

There's a huge gacha shop right across from here, and it's so cheap I almost emptied my wallet ㅠ Go eat, then take a walk over there haha.
