Gunpo Korean restaurant for sizzling squid pork: Deodolpan
In short
Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is a Korean restaurant near Sanbonjeil Hospital in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. After an appointment, I had the mild two-person Oje Bokkeum set and cheese egg fried rice for 44,000 won. Verdict: save room for the crispy scorched rice on the hot stone plate.

The day I had an appointment at Sanbonjeil Hospital! These days, whenever I have to go to the hospital, I figure I’m already out anyway, so I usually eat nearby before heading home haha. After my appointment that day, I was looking for lunch and visited Deodolpan Sanbon Branch nearby. It wasn’t far from the hospital, so it’s a nice place to stop by on appointment days too haha.

It’s quite close to Sanbon Station, and the restaurant is on the second floor.
When we walked in, I think the male owner...? greeted us with a smile, and that was quietly memorable from the start haha. When we visited, a group had just finished eating and was heading out. As soon as they left, he cleared the tables incredibly quickly—but not with just a quick wipe; he carefully disinfected them with alcohol too. The entire place had already looked clean, but seeing him tidy up in person made me think, wow, they really take care of this place.
You can catch a little glimpse of the kitchen from one side, and it was super clean too. They thoughtfully serve hovenia tea as the water!
Oje Bokkeum set menu and our order

The menu included stir-fried squid, stir-fried pork, Oje Bokkeum, and stir-fried squid with beef intestine, divided into set meals and individual stir-fry dishes. We were deciding between squid and pork, but then I saw Oje Bokkeum, which has both! No need to choose, so Oje Bokkeum it was right away lol. The Oje Bokkeum set comes with rice, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and side dishes.

There were lots of side dishes, including plenty of noodle options that would be good mixed into the leftover sauce!

Two-person charcoal-fired hot-stone Oje Bokkeum set, mild, ₩32,000; cheese egg fried rice for two, ₩10,000; and Zero Coke, ₩2,000. That made our total ₩44,000!
How should you pair the self-bar side dishes?
The basic side dishes included perilla leaves, bean sprouts, radish, fish cake, and more.

There was a self-service bar on one side, so we could bring back as much extra banchan (Korean side dishes) as we needed, and the perilla leaves were in amazing condition. You can eat them as side dishes, of course, but later I mixed Oje Bokkeum and bean sprouts into rice, and that worked so well haha. With the perilla leaves, it was also great to make a wrap with rice, squid, and pork all at once.
Mild charcoal-fired hot-stone Oje Bokkeum set

At last, the Oje Bokkeum arrived! Squid, pork, and vegetables came stir-fried in sauce on a huge stone plate, topped with shredded scallions and chewy noodles. We ordered the mild level, but for someone who can’t handle spice well, it was still pretty spicy lol.

At first, I piled lots of Oje Bokkeum over plain white rice and ate it like that,

then, following the posted tips for making it even tastier, I started adding side dishes one by one lol.

Adding bean sprouts and perilla leaves, then drizzling in sesame oil and mixing it all with rice, made it nice because it didn’t feel like I was eating the exact same thing from beginning to end.

The bean sprouts weren’t salty, and the yeolmu kimchi (young-radish kimchi) was so delicious, like homemade kimchi... honestly the best... The stir-fry ingredients were generous and the sauce was so good, but are the side dishes really this good too?ㅠ
Seriously sooo delicious,,,,,💗

Just look at the size of that squid... hehe. I picked up one piece of squid and one piece of pork together, or piled everything onto a perilla leaf for a big wrap haha.

The sauce is so good that however you eat it, it’s seriously insanely delicious.

I also loved that cheonggukjang came with the set. You can choose your soup! When I scooped some up, there were quite a few beans and chunks of tofu in it too. Having spoonfuls of warm cheonggukjang between bites of stir-fry made it feel like a proper full meal! I think my husband said the cheonggukjang was so delicious at least five times..
Cheese egg fried rice and scorched rice on the stone plate
And you need to leave a little room here lol. Once we had nearly finished the main dish, we added two portions of cheese egg fried rice. Fried rice can be ordered from two portions! Actually, I didn’t realize the set came with bowls of rice at lunch, so I ordered fried rice from the beginning too.. Thanks to that, the two of us ate two bowls of rice plus two portions of fried rice—four portions total—and were absolutely stuffed lolㅠ But mixed rice with plain rice was so, so delicious too...♡ And the fried rice was delicious, so I think it was good that we had both.

They add rice to the Oje Bokkeum and sauce left on the stone plate, stir-fry it, and pile on lots of cheese! Then they crack an egg right in the middle. The Oje Bokkeum sauce already goes perfectly with rice, but the cheese and egg make it much nuttier. Put the lid on and wait four minutes!
But personally, the best part was after it was all fried lol.

You know the rice that sticks to the hot stone plate? I scraped it off hard with the spatula and ate it—it was crispy, with the sauce soaked in deeply, and so freaking goodㅠㅠ Even when I was bursting, I couldn’t give up scraping up that final scorched fried rice.. I think I’d definitely get the fried rice again next time too haha.
A filling meal after an appointment in Sanbon
I came here to have lunch nearby after an appointment at Sanbonjeil Hospital, and it was a good choice when I wanted a hearty Korean meal. Sponsorship aside, it was seriously, seriously delicious, so I’m planning to come back on my own too.
The Oje Bokkeum, which lets you eat squid and pork at the same time, was great, but I was even more satisfied after finishing with the cheese egg fried rice! It seemed popular with office workers at lunchtime, and I think it would be so nice for drinks in the evening too!! Especially if you love scorched fried rice on a stone plate, make sure you scrape up every last bit lol.
