Hongdae has so many good restaurants that it's honestly hard to decide what to eat, but on this day I just suddenly, really wanted pizza…? 🍕 My friend and I were wandering around near Hongik University Station and decided, let's just grab something simple and good! That's how we ended up at Sunny's Pizza Market.

Honestly, ordering just one pizza flavor can feel a little disappointing sometimes, right? I wanted pepperoni and I wanted potato too, so I didn't hesitate — we went straight for a half-and-half pizza.

Sunny's Pizza Market is located near Hongik University Station, so it's a great pick when you've got plans in Hongdae. When you're out and about in Hongdae, you often end up looking for somewhere to eat near the subway station — this place wasn't too far from the station, so it was easy to get to.

The shop is on the 2nd floor, so you just check the sign downstairs and head up. Hongdae has so many places tucked into alleys that first-time visits can be tricky, but this time it was easier to find than I expected :) It's also a good location for grabbing pizza for dinner after shopping or a café visit with a friend in Hongdae.

The Blue Ribbon pick factor

Another thing I discovered while looking into Sunny's Pizza Market — it's a Blue Ribbon-listed restaurant! 💙 Whenever I'm restaurant-hunting and see a place has a Blue Ribbon listing, it makes me more curious and makes me want to try it at least once. Sunny's Pizza Market was one of those places, so I was excited even before visiting.

What we ordered — half-and-half pizza, zero cola, and wingbong

Keeping it simple, here's what we ordered:

• Half-and-half pizza - sweet potato + pepperoni
• Zero cola + wingbong

Of course cola is a must with pizza 🥹 I've been trying to choose zero-sugar drinks whenever possible lately, so I got zero cola to go with it. And being able to order half-and-half really made my day.

Pepperoni vs. sweet potato: the taste difference

The savory pepperoni let me really taste that classic pizza flavor. Pepperoni especially pairs so well with cola — one bite of pizza, one sip of cola, and that's pure happiness…🥹❤️

If the sweet potato side is the mild one, the pepperoni side is clearly saltier and more flavorful — the contrast between the two was really clear. So choosing half-and-half that day was definitely the right call. One side mild, one side savory, and I kept going back and forth between them.

And a pizza place wouldn't be complete without good wingbong, apparently, so I'd recommend it to anyone debating on a side dish! 🍗 When pizza alone feels like it's not quite enough, ordering wingbong alongside makes the meal so much more filling, and it's great for sharing when you're out with a group!!

Overall, eating at Sunny's Pizza Market that day was satisfying. First, the accessibility near Hongik University Station was great, and being on the 2nd floor meant the shop had a surprisingly comfortable atmosphere once we got inside. On top of that, the staff were friendly, so we got through the meal without any hassle.

Our sweet potato + pepperoni half-and-half pizza was especially nice because we got to enjoy two different flavors on one pie. The mild sweet potato and the salty pepperoni contrasted with each other, so it felt less repetitive than sticking to just one flavor, and it was great for sharing between the two of us.
