Sangam lunch: gyukatsu set for two at Izawa Sangam, Mapo
In short
Izawa Sangam is a gyukatsu (breaded pork cutlet) Japanese restaurant in Sangam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. Visiting during lunch hour, the writer ordered a set for two — two gyukatsu set meals, cold soba, and a soda — via the table tablet, and the food arrived quickly with generous portions. A place worth revisiting for a solid Sangam workday lunch.

Today I'm sharing a good lunch I had after a while. Sangam has so many offices that lunchtime always brings the classic "what should I eat today?" dilemma. I was in that same boat and craving something a bit different, so I went out for gyukatsu (breaded pork cutlet).

The place I visited was Izawa Sangam. Gyukatsu fans have probably heard of it already, and after eating there myself, I found the food clean-tasting and the portions generous, plus it came out quickly — a solid pick for a workday lunch.

📍What's the vibe at Izawa Sangam?
Even before stepping inside, the exterior looked neat and well kept, which made a good first impression. During lunch hour you usually need to eat quickly near the office, and Izawa Sangam's clean, comfortable atmosphere made it a good fit for that.
The interior was similarly tidy overall. It wasn't too busy or chaotic, so it was fine for chatting over lunch too, and the whole place felt well managed. I personally care about a restaurant's atmosphere and cleanliness as much as the taste, so that part was satisfying too.

📱Checking the menu and ordering easily on the tablet
One convenient thing about Izawa Sangam was being able to check the menu and order right from the tablet at the table. No need to flag down a server with a paper menu — I could browse at my own pace and order from my seat.
During lunch rush, restaurants can get crowded and ordering can take a while, so being able to order directly from the table was genuinely convenient. That kind of thing matters more than you'd think during a busy workday lunch. After looking over the menu, we decided on the set for two.

🥩What's in the Izawa Sangam set for two
What we ordered was the set for two
- 2 gyukatsu set meals
- 1 cold soba
- 1 soda
That was the lineup.

It felt like a pretty solid spread for two people. And not long after ordering, the food arrived — which was really satisfying too. Lunch hour is time-limited, so if food takes too long it can feel a bit stressful for the diner. But Izawa Sangam's food came out relatively fast, which I liked. It immediately felt like a good spot for office workers to visit at lunch.

How was the gyukatsu portion and taste
The first thing I noticed as soon as the food arrived was "the portion is really bigger than I expected!" The gyukatsu came out quite generously, so I knew right away I'd be eating well. I'm someone who feels a bit let down if the portion is too small even when the food tastes good, but Izawa Sangam's gyukatsu had no such letdown. If anything, the portion was so big I ended up really full.

The gyukatsu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, so it was delicious to eat. Overall the food felt clean, and it was easy to enjoy as a satisfying, not-too-heavy meal. Above all, the generous portion seemed like it would fill up anyone, any age. Big eaters would probably be satisfied too, and it seems well suited for office workers wanting to properly fill up at lunch.

🍜Cold soba that paired well with the gyukatsu
I also tried the cold soba that came with the gyukatsu. Alternating between the gyukatsu and the refreshing cold soba worked really well as a combo. Instead of eating only the meat dish, having the cold soba alongside kept refreshing my palate, and the set-for-two lineup felt well-rounded overall. With the soda on top, it was a truly filling lunch.

Lastly, something that stuck with me as much as the food was how friendly the staff were. Even if the food is delicious, if the service feels uncomfortable, it can lower your motivation to return. The staff here were friendly throughout the meal, which put me in a good mood. It might seem like a small thing, but this kind of service really boosts overall satisfaction with a restaurant.

💬My honest review after eating there
Summing up my impressions of the gyukatsu at Izawa Sangam,
- Gyukatsu portions are generous
- Food is clean-tasting and delicious
- Food comes out relatively fast
- Easy tablet ordering
- Interior is clean with a nice atmosphere
- Staff are friendly
- Good for lunch or dinner as an office worker
That's about how I'd sum it up.

Izawa Sangam is a place I'd love to revisit next lunch!! Overall this visit was quite satisfying. From the clean atmosphere to the convenient tablet ordering, the quick food, the generous gyukatsu, and the friendly staff, there was a lot to like. Above all, having eaten there myself, it really seems like a good spot for Sangam office workers to visit at lunch.
If you're stuck on what to eat for lunch in Sangam, or if you like gyukatsu, this place is worth a visit. After enjoying my meal that day, I thought, "I need to come back here next lunchtime!" 😊 Next time I'd like to try other menu items too. If you're looking for a filling, clean lunch in Sangam, I'd personally recommend Izawa Sangam!👍
