I went back to my mom's favorite restaurant in the Suwan district of Gwangju — Bueokgan Suwan Branch!

Most people seem to park along the street. This time I also parked right on the street in front of the restaurant.

The green awning and outdoor tables out front

Bueokgan Suwan Branch has a clean exterior with a green awning as its standout feature, so it's easy to spot.

There are also outdoor tables and chairs set up in front of the restaurant.

With tables placed under the green awning, it looked like a nice spot to eat outside or grab a coffee on a nice day.

Near the entrance there's a neat standing sign that reads Bueokgan, haha.

Inside Bueokgan Suwan Branch and what makes it easy with kids

Last time I visited there were quite a lot of customers, so this time I came a bit earlier, haha.

When I first walked in only one table was occupied, but customers kept coming in while we ate. Watching the tables fill up so quickly, I could tell this place is popular.

Inside, the space felt clean and bright overall. The wall is a floor-to-ceiling window, so the greenery outside was fully visible, haha.

Eating while looking at the green scenery made the space feel more open, with no stuffy feeling at all.

I liked that the restroom is inside the restaurant too. It's convenient not having to step outside during the meal.

There were also little decorative touches placed around the restaurant, which were fun to look at. They added a warm, cozy feel to the otherwise clean, tidy space, haha.

The tableware set out at the table was neatly arranged too.

There was also a baby chair on hand, which made it easy to visit with a kid, haha.

What comes in the set menu: salad, pasta and pizza

At Bueokgan Suwan Branch we ordered the set menu and ate mushroom grilled salad, shrimp rose pasta, and basil margherita pizza together. I picked the set so we could try a bit of everything, haha.

Mushroom grilled salad

This is a grilled mushroom salad with mini king oyster mushrooms and oyster mushrooms, haha. Maybe because they're grilled, there was a subtle smoky flavor and a nutty taste, along with that chewy texture unique to mushrooms.

Coffee and ade

Bueokgan's coffee is always tasty, haha. Honestly, it tastes better to me than Starbucks.

We also ordered an ade — this was refreshing and delicious too, haha.

Shrimp rose pasta

A creamy rose pasta with plump, chewy shrimp and mushrooms as the highlight. The tangy yet nutty rose sauce paired really well with the springy shrimp!

Basil margherita pizza

A light pizza with a basil pesto base and grilled tomatoes on top. The subtle basil aroma kept it from feeling greasy, so it was clean and easy to eat.

A place my mom loves and I keep coming back to — it was great for enjoying pasta and pizza in a nice atmosphere in the Suwan district.
