At an awkward 3pm, feeling hungry, I stopped by Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road to pick up some chicken to take out. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner, but chicken is honestly one of the easiest things to grab at a time like that 🍗

If you spot this Goobne Chicken mascot figure, head down that alley and you'll find this Hongdae chicken spot — Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road!

They were even running discount promotions on cocktails and beer! This Hongdae chicken restaurant, Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road, seems like the kind of place plenty of foreigners would love too.

Outdoor terrace tables and the pub-style interior
Outside Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road there's an outdoor space set up like a terrace beer garden. On breezy days like these, it seemed perfect for enjoying chicken and beer outdoors 🍗🍺 A great atmosphere for a light chimaek (chicken + beer) session near Hongdae's Red Road :)

The menu is basically similar to other Goobne Chicken branches, but the Red Road location had a distinctly different vibe from the start.

Inside, it felt more like a pub than a typical chicken restaurant. The lighting and interior were done up with real atmosphere, so even though it's a chicken place, it felt like walking into a pub. I bet the mood gets even better after dark!! Being able to enjoy chicken with beer as well as cocktails made it feel even more special 🍗🍺🍸

Second-floor group tables and sofa seats
Heading up to the 2nd floor of Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road, there's a spacious floor with tons of tables and seats. This Hongdae chicken restaurant, Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road, looks great for group gatherings.

The sofa area in particular looked like a comfortable spot where a group could sit and drink for a long while — a great chimaek setup on the 2nd floor of this Hongdae chicken restaurant, Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road.

What's on the menu at Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road?
The menu at this Hongdae chicken restaurant, Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road, was more varied than expected, from the classic Goobne lineup to plenty of side dishes. There's the signature Original, plus familiar Goobne favorites like Gochu Basasak (spicy crispy), Volcano, and Galbi King, along with sides like pizza and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) that pair well with chicken.

Original chicken 1.5: how much do you get, and how does it taste?
This time I ordered the Goobne Original chicken 1.5 (one and a half whole chickens) after a while 🍗 As always, since Goobne's chicken is oven-roasted rather than fried, it doesn't feel greasy and is light and easy to eat.
Being a 1.5-chicken order, the portion was quite generous — plenty for 2–3 people with one extra side dish! Great to order when eating with a group or when you want a hearty amount of chicken. The skin was roasted golden brown and savory, and the meat underneath was moist yet light, making it easy to keep reaching for more!

Since Goobne's chicken is oven-roasted rather than fried, it's well known as a chicken you can eat while dieting. The coating isn't thick, so it's lighter and cleaner-tasting than regular fried chicken. I think this is the chicken I reach for when I'm craving chicken but don't want anything too greasy 🍗

The Original in particular isn't strongly sweet or spicy, so it should suit anyone who likes the natural, light taste of chicken itself. It's good dipped in sauce, but honestly I liked it enough plain — I kept picking off pieces with a cola and it disappeared fast 😋 A generous, light portion makes this a great order on a day you're simply craving chicken!

Reheating leftover Goobne chicken in an air fryer
Reheating the leftover chicken in the air fryer, it tasted just as good as the first time 👅 The seasoning sauce that came with it was also nicely sweet and delicious.
Goobne Chicken Hongdae Red Road was great for enjoying light, non-greasy chicken with beer in a pub-like atmosphere. With outdoor terrace seating too, it's a nice place to visit on a good-weather day, and I'd recommend it as a Hongdae restaurant and Hongdae chimaek spot for whenever you want to enjoy chicken and beer around Hongdae 🍗🍺
