Solo drinking at Dosi Night, an Isu Station bar: yuzu cream shrimp
In short
Dosi Night is a Korean cooking bar with floor-to-ceiling windows in the Isu Station food alley in Dongjak, Seoul, open from 5 PM to 2 AM. At the bar seats a bartender mixes highballs, including non-alcoholic ones, so Dosi Night works for solo drinking as well as a date, and the order here was snowflake cheese bacon potato pancake, yuzu cream shrimp, Dosi Night mix skewers and guava sherbet. The potato pancake held its truffle aroma to the last bite and the shrimp came over yuzu-pickled lotus root: this is a bar where the food deserves to be called cooking.

The space was so pretty and the food was so good that honestly I'd call it food rather than just drinking snacks, and I'd say it's fair to call this a restaurant too — I went here on a date with a friend at Dosi Night haha.
Inside Dosi Night: floor-to-ceiling windows and full-moon lamps
Dosi Night is a ground-floor bar in the Isu Station food alley, and the whole building has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it's set up perfectly for drinking while looking outside. The inside is clean but styled with mood in every corner.

True to its name, Dosi Night ('city night') has a clean but moody interior in every corner — usually a place styled like this is in a basement, or has few or no windows, and feels stuffy and dim.

But here the whole building has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it feels open and it's great for drinking while looking outside, which made it perfect for a date,

and on top of that, the space is spacious enough that it would work well for group gatherings too.

Can you drink alone at Dosi Night? Bartender-made highballs at the bar seats
What surprised me was that solo drinking is totally possible here. There were bar seats, and just like at a proper bar, the bartender made the highballs right there in front of us. I could hear the shaking sound, which somehow made the highball taste even better haha.

Where Dosi Night is, opening hours and how long you wait
Dosi Night is in the Isu Station food alley, so it was easy to find. It's open from 5 PM to 2 AM the next day, and during peak time it can get crowded, so if there's a waiting line the time is limited to 2.5 hours — that's why we came right at opening time.
I just noticed this line here, which says it's a bar devoted to real cooking, not just heating things up. I read it without thinking much at first, but after tasting the food I thought — this place should never be called just 'anju' (drinking snacks). This is genuinely a delicious restaurant! haha

Even the basic side dish had character. They pour sauce over nacho chips, and it was weirdly addictive — I kept snacking on them without thinking haha.

This is a place I fell for through the food, but it's also a bar with a wide range of drinks — not just soju and beer but various highballs, Hwayo, shots, and whiskeys too haha. They thoughtfully gave us milk thistle before we started drinking.

What we ordered at Dosi Night, plus the free dessert perk
Here's the whole menu. We were really hungry that day so we ordered all sorts of things. Every item on the menu sounded delicious and made you curious. Above all, you could tell these weren't just filler snack items — each one looked carefully thought through and developed.
We tried a variety of things: the snowflake cheese bacon potato pancake, yuzu cream shrimp, the Dosi Night mix skewers, and the Dosi Night guava sherbet, plus highballs — one alcoholic, one non-alcoholic. A non-alcoholic highball option! I loved that touch of thoughtfulness.
They're also running a review event, and on top of that there's an even more fun extra event. If your ID shows you live in Sadang-dong, or you're an active-duty soldier, or it's your birthday month, or you're celebrating an anniversary, they give you a free dessert. We got the sherbet this way, and it was seriously amazing. It was so pretty, and the portion was way bigger than it looked, which made me like it even more. I'm definitely ordering this sherbet myself next time I come back haha.

Here's the full spread first. Everything was cooked fresh the moment we ordered, and even though it takes a bit of cooking, the dishes came out quickly while we were chatting!

It paired really well with the highball,
and each table has a full-moon lamp, so as the sun went down the mood got even better.

Snowflake cheese bacon potato pancake: truffle aroma to the last bite
First up, the potato pancake, as big as the full moon! Dosi Night's snowflake cheese bacon potato pancake is a thick potato pancake sprinkled with shredded cheese.
Honestly I was a little worried when I heard cheese was involved. I don't love potato pancakes with too much mozzarella or cheddar piled on — they lose that clean flavor, and I end up wondering why I'm even eating potato pancake. But here they just sprinkle on shredded cheese, so the clean flavor of the potato pancake stays intact while the cheese melts transparently from the heat and adds a nice savory note — it was delicious.

It's not a thin potato pancake but a thick shredded one, which made it even better, and there was a strong truffle scent. Truffle aroma usually disappears quickly with heat, but it seemed like they mixed truffle oil into the accompanying sauce with that in mind — so you could taste the truffle all the way to the end.

The button mushrooms and bacon scattered throughout kept the texture and flavor interesting, and by this point both of us were already saying, wow, this is a dish someone really thought hard about. Delicious.
Yuzu cream shrimp served over yuzu-pickled lotus root
Then the yuzu cream shrimp came out, and I was surprised at how big the shrimp were and how generous the portion was.
Honestly I thought the yuzu part would just be some yuzu syrup or yuzu-flavored mayo sauce, haha. But nope, not at all — it seemed like they'd either soaked the lotus root in yuzu sauce or tossed it in the sauce, because underneath there was a salad with yuzu sauce and lotus root thoroughly pickled in yuzu. Eaten together with the cream shrimp, it was tangy and refreshing with zero greasiness — genuinely delicious.

I ate it thinking, this is what yuzu cream shrimp should actually taste like! And the generous garlic flakes on top added texture too — I'd definitely recommend ordering this one!

Dosi Night mix skewers and guava sherbet
Dosi Night's menu items seem to have plain-sounding names that the actual dishes then completely subvert. When I heard 'skewers' I figured it'd be something ordinary like izakaya chicken skewers, but this turned out to be a must-order dish that's basically destined to go well with whiskey. The skewers, loaded with pepperoni, cherry tomato, celery, cheese, olive, and ham, went perfectly with whiskey or highballs.
Lastly, the sherbet! This is so, so good haha. It comes out in a really pretty set, and it looked like a cup so I wasn't expecting much in terms of portion, but it's actually a deep cup like the ones used for shaved ice, so there was a surprising amount inside. It was handmade, which made it even better — I wanted to ask how it was made and try making it at home haha.
