I visited Jeongyukdo (정육도) with my child for an early weekday dinner. It was close to Hapjeong Station, so getting there was easy, and we were seated right away without waiting.

It is on the second floor at 14 Yanghwa-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The restaurant was spacious and clean, and the staff were kind too.

Close to Hapjeong Station

Its proximity to Hapjeong Station was especially nice on this visit. There is no dedicated parking, so if you bring a car, it is best to check nearby paid parking lots.

Because it was early dinner, we did not have to wait, and the roomy space did not feel cramped once we sat down. The kind service also made it easy to keep enjoying dinner with my child.

We ordered the Korean pork special-cuts set for ₩65,000, marinated pork ribs for ₩18,000, steamed egg for ₩4,000, mul-naengmyeon for ₩5,000, and a bowl of rice.

What Is in the Korean Pork Special-Cuts Set?

The Korean pork special-cuts set includes pork jowl, pork neck cap, and pork skirt meat, with a choice of meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) in an earthenware pot or Korean beef doenjang jjigae. We chose the Korean beef doenjang jjigae. I liked being able to try several special cuts at once at this Korean BBQ restaurant near Hapjeong Station.

The meat arrived together on one plate, so we did not eat while distinguishing each cut one by one. Rather than separating out the flavors of specific cuts, we grilled the different meats over charcoal and alternated the sauces and side dishes.

The basic table setting also came with a variety of side dishes and sauces that went well with the meat.

Changing up the combinations as we went made it fun even while eating many pieces. We put small amounts on the charcoal at a time and cooked them at our own pace.

The mul-naengmyeon was cool and clean-tasting, with thin, springy noodles. It paired well with the grilled meat. Having the chilled broth after the marinated pork ribs also changed up the feel of the meal.

Next Time, with the Whole Family

This time it was just my child and me, but next time I would like to go with the whole family. It was close to the station, making it an easy meeting spot, and we were able to enjoy a good range of dishes in one place, from meat and stew to steamed egg and cold noodles.
