Yangyang barbecue after a beach day: marinated ribs at Yeoyejeong
In short
Yeoyejeong is a charcoal barbecue restaurant on Ssangsolbaegi-gil in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. After swimming at Namae 3-ri Beach and a stop at Yangyang Market, this family ordered three servings of marinated ribs (yangnyeom galbi) with kimchi stew, steamed egg and rice, while the dad who was driving had a 0.00 non-alcoholic beer. Three servings of marinated ribs were generous enough that no extra order was needed, and with kids' tableware and a large parking lot, Yeoyejeong was an easy spot for a family meal out.

A great find on our Yangyang trip with our kid! We went because someone recommended it as a local favorite — here's my honest review of Yeoyejeong.
Where is Yeoyejeong, and its hours and parking
Yeoyejeong is at 49 Ssangsolbaegi-gil, Seo-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, and it's open Wed–Mon 11:30–21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, closed every Wednesday. Parking is available, and they have kids' chairs, pickup service, private rooms and group seating.
We went swimming at Namae 3-ri Beach, stopped by Yangyang Market to pick up some pine mushroom dakgangjeong (fried chicken), and then headed to Yeoyejeong.
It's less than a 10-minute drive from Yangyang Market too, so it was easy to fit into our trip.
There's a big sign on the road, so even as first-timers we found it easily. And what I really loved was the parking lot!! It's huge, so we could pull in without any parking stress.

Inside Yeoyejeong: a mountain-lodge dining room and guestbook
Coming in~! It felt like walking into a mountain lodge haha.

The wood-toned interior felt warm, and the space was bigger than I expected. It's mostly 4-person tables, with enough room to feel comfortable even in a group.

And there's a guestbook on the wall! It's got drawings and little memories from past visitors, so we spent a good while looking through it while waiting for our food. It was fun looking at it with our kid too 😍
The country-of-origin labeling is also neatly displayed where you can see it at a glance.

Yeoyejeong menu and prices
- Marinated ribs (양념갈비) ₩18,000
- Fresh ribs (생갈비) ₩17,000
- Pork jowl (항정살) ₩18,000
- Pork belly (삼겹살) ₩15,000
- Pork tail (돼지꼬리) ₩11,000
- Flower short rib (꽃갈비살) ₩29,000
- Chuck flap tail (살치살) ₩26,000
There's also a lunch special and side menu. Isn't it kind of wild that pork tail is on the menu? It's something my mom used to make when I was little, so it felt oddly nostalgic. I thought about ordering it, but I'm the only one at the table who actually knows how to eat it, so I held back 😂😭
We ordered the kids' unanimous favorite — three servings of marinated ribs — plus kimchi stew, steamed egg, rice, and some drinks.

The lucky draw for writing a review at Yeoyejeong
The restaurant is also running a lucky draw event — write a review on Naver or Google and you get to take part in the draw.

There was such a variety of prizes lined up that the kids couldn't take their eyes off it haha. It's basically a spell that guarantees parents with kids will write a review! Kudos to the owner for the clever idea.

Side dishes and caipira lettuce at Yeoyejeong
The basic side dishes are a vegetable salad, white kimchi, sautéed eggplant, and cucumber salad, along with caipira lettuce.
The caipira lettuce served for wraps is hydroponically grown at a smart farm run by the Yangyang Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities. It's grown in a facility certified sterile and pesticide-free, so I trusted it even more. And on top of that, the restaurant has a year-round supply contract to help support that community — so eating good meat also means supporting a good cause. Two birds, one stone ❤️

The sauces are salt, ssamjang (dipping paste), and wasabi.

Is Yeoyejeong easy with a child? Kids' tableware and non-alcoholic beer
When they saw we had a kid with us, they brought out kids' tableware right away.

And the thing moms and dads just can't resist even on a trip — a drink 🍺. Since we drove, my husband had a non-alcoholic beer instead. Yeoyejeong has 0.00 non-alcoholic beer on hand, which was nice for drivers who still want to enjoy a beer without worry.

The charcoal's in~! Yeoyejeong uses coffee-wood binchotan charcoal. It sparks less, so we could eat a bit more at ease with our kid there.

Three servings of marinated ribs: how much meat you get
Here come three servings of marinated ribs! We said we'd order more meat after trying it, but in the end we never did — there was way more meat than we expected.

Meat sizzling away on the charcoal grill can't possibly taste bad!

Marinated ribs can burn easily on the grill, but my husband grilled them beautifully golden-brown — give the man a round of applause 👏

Meat after swimming really does taste like honey 👍

The marinade was so well absorbed into the meat that it was plenty tasty even plain, with no off smell to the meat at all. Our kid, who usually doesn't finish a whole bowl of rice, polished off a full bowl with the meat here. As a mom, that made me weirdly proud~!

Steamed egg and the kimchi stew that won over my husband
Steamed egg — need I say more? It's basically a must-order for us whenever we're at a BBQ place with our kid. It's nicely salty, perfect eaten with rice.

And the dish my husband gave his stamp of approval to: kimchi stew. He really loves kimchi jjigae, and after trying this one he gave it a thumbs up 👍 It had a deep, rich flavor — not like freshly made stew, but one that tasted like it had been simmered a long time. It was loaded with meat and the kimchi itself was delicious, so we ended up ordering extra rice haha.

After the meal, we even had coffee time! Confirmed local favorite ❤️
Is Yeoyejeong worth it for a family meal in Yangyang?
Stopping by this barbecue restaurant during our Yangyang trip with the kids, we ate well from the meat to the kimchi stew and were satisfied overall. With pickup service and private rooms plus group seating, it seems like a solid choice not just for a family meal but for gatherings too. If you're looking for a family restaurant or a gathering spot in Yangyang, definitely give Yeoyejeong a try.
