Yeoyejeong in Yangyang
Yeoyejeong in Yangyang: pork jowl was the pick of the day
I've done this a few times now, but when I sign up for a sponsored campaign, I usually pick places I've actually wanted to visit or that people around me have recommended, rather than just any random spot 😎 Yeoyejeong in Yangyang was one of those places I'd wanted to try for a while.
Once I got there, the mountain-lodge-like atmosphere was lovely, but what stuck with me most that day was, without question, the pork jowl. We also ordered pork belly, but if I go back next time, I'd honestly want to order four servings of pork jowl and nothing else. If you're looking for a good place to eat meat in Yangyang, this is one to remember.
Not that the pork belly wasn't good, but the pork jowl was seriously... so good haha 🤣🤣 For reference, I love chewy, springy textures, so pork jowl and crispy skin-on pork belly are my favorites 🫶🏻

What is the atmosphere like inside Yeoyejeong?
I liked the interior from the moment we arrived. It's designed like a mountain lodge, which fits the feel of Yangyang really well, and the dining hall was bigger than I expected.
Everything was kept clean overall, and the staff were friendly. They kept checking in and bringing what we needed while we grilled, so the meal felt easy and comfortable. It seemed like a solid pick for a family dinner out or for anyone looking for a dinner spot while traveling around Yangyang 👍🏻

Ordering pork belly and pork jowl at Yeoyejeong
We ordered the pork belly, which had good reviews, along with the pork jowl, which I personally love. The meat came out thickly sliced, so once it hit the charcoal, it already looked amazing.
The pork belly was also cut thick, and grilling it golden brown over charcoal made it wonderfully savory. But once I tasted the pork jowl, my pick for the day was decided instantly.

Yeoyejeong's pork jowl: chewy from the thick cut up
I already love pork jowl and order it often whenever it's on a menu. But Yeoyejeong's pork jowl ranked among the best I've had... for starters, the thickness is really something.
Grilled golden over charcoal, one bite gave the signature chewy texture of pork jowl, and it got more savory the more I chewed. It wasn't too tough, just the right amount of chewy, so I kept reaching for more.
The pork belly was plenty good too, but if you made me pick one, I'd choose pork jowl without hesitation. I kept telling my husband how good it was while we ate. If I go back to Yeoyejeong, I want to order four servings of pork jowl alone...
I visited as part of a sponsored campaign, but this dish genuinely hit my personal taste dead center. If you're hunting for a good meat restaurant in Yangyang and especially love pork jowl, I hope you get to try it.

Why choose sotbap over a bowl of steamed rice?
Yeoyejeong offers both regular steamed rice and pot rice separately. We always make sure to eat rice with our meat since the kids are trying to gain weight, so we went with pot rice without hesitation.
Scooping up a spoonful of warm pot rice and topping it with a piece of charcoal-grilled pork jowl was so good — the fluffy pot rice with the chewy pork jowl 🥹 Since you can choose between steamed rice and pot rice, go with steamed rice if you want something simple, or pot rice if you like it warm and hearty.

Kimchi stew or doenjang stew at Yeoyejeong?
Kimchi stew (kimchi jjigae) and doenjang stew (fermented soybean paste stew) were also on the meal menu. I was curious about the kimchi stew, but the staff mentioned when we ordered that it's quite spicy.
My husband isn't great with spicy food, so we went with the doenjang stew instead. It came loaded with enoki mushrooms, which I hadn't had in a while, and it was delicious. I really love doenjang stew with lots of enoki mushrooms... Eating meat, warm pot rice, and doenjang stew together made for a great finish to the meal.
Why Yeoyejeong is worth a second visit
Not every restaurant I visit for a sponsored campaign stays on my mind afterward, but Yeoyejeong is one I want to revisit because of the pork jowl. The lodge-like atmosphere and friendly staff are memorable too, but at the end of the day, a restaurant only stays memorable if the food is good. For Yeoyejeong, that was the pork jowl.
The pork belly was delicious too, but next time I'm going to shift the balance heavily toward pork jowl. If you're looking for a place to eat meat in Yangyang or you love thick, chewy pork jowl, it's worth a visit 👍🏻 For the record, the pork belly was really good too 🤣🤣🤣
