Yangyang café with honey bread on a revisit boat day: Cafe Dunchi
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a water sports center and café inside Namdaecheon Park in Yangyang, Gangwon. On a return trip three years later, the electric boat that bad weather had cancelled last time finally ran — a 30-minute ride at 10am on a Friday — followed by honey bread and cream bread at a window seat on the second floor. For anyone looking for something to do in Yangyang with kids, Cafe Dunchi covers both the play and the coffee.

I was looking for something to do with my kid in Yangyang and ended up back at Cafe Dunchi, where you can actually ride a boat. Three years ago we couldn't ride because of the weather, so this time getting to go was such a nice memory ❣️ If you're looking for activities in Yangyang, take a read through my Cafe Dunchi review :)
Cafe Dunchi parking and opening hours in Yangyang
Cafe Dunchi's address is 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, and there's free parking inside the park. Since the café is located inside the park, the parking area was really spacious.
We visited on a Friday at 10am and the parking lot was pretty quiet. Even for beginner drivers, parking here is easy.
- Café: daily 10:00–21:00
- Boat: daily 10:00–18:00
- Boat rides can be affected by weather conditions, so it's best to check before visiting

On the way to Cafe Dunchi the weather was gorgeous, and the pond full of lotus leaves was so pretty.

My kid asked me to take a photo by the boat model, so here's a quick shot :)

This is the Cafe Dunchi building. You can board the boats on the 1st floor, and the 2nd floor is the café space where you can grab a coffee.
We picked up coffee first to drink on the boat. The owner was so kind — she told us a group was about to arrive, so we should grab our order quickly and head to the boat 🤭 Thanks to her, we didn't have to wait to board. After picking up the coffee, we headed down to the 1st floor where the boat dock is.

How much is a boat ride at Cafe Dunchi?
Cafe Dunchi's electric boats are ₩30,000 for a 4-seater (30 minutes) and ₩35,000 for a 6-seater. The Hwangpo sailboat, which seats 12, is ₩6,000 for children, ₩8,000 for teens, and ₩10,000 for adults, for 20 minutes.
- Electric boat 4-seat (30 min) ₩30,000 / 6-seat ₩35,000
- Hwangpo sailboat 12-seat (20 min): children ₩6,000, teens ₩8,000, adults ₩10,000

They also have life jackets in different sizes! There are sizes for both toddlers and adults, so you can just wear whichever fits. The life jackets looked well maintained and clean too.
After a quick lesson on how to operate the boat, we headed out onto the Namdaecheon river in Yangyang!
The sky was gorgeous and the mountain scenery in the distance was so beautiful.

That peaceful scenery was the most relaxed I felt during the whole trip.
We boarded around 10am, pretty early, but besides our family there was a group visiting too, so there were several boats out on the water.

The wind was calm on the day we rode, so there were almost no waves, which made for a stable, relaxed ride.

The electric boat we missed three years ago, ridden at last
We'd also visited Cafe Dunchi when my kid was 3, but the weather was bad back then and we couldn't ride the boat. This time we finally got to ride, and it turned into such a happy memory ✨

A record from our visit in November 2023 ✍️

Honey bread, cream bread and window seats on the second floor
After the 30-minute boat ride, my kid got hungry, so we went up to the café.

Take a look at the café menu board — they have a wide range of drinks, from coffee to other beverages.

There are also kid-friendly drinks and light bread options.

I looked around the whole café and each space had a different interior and view, so it was hard to decide where to sit.

This is the main seating area, which looks down over the river.

Seeing the boats out there really gave it a vacation feel.

This spot is great for reading a book or getting some work done.

The green scenery through the floor-to-ceiling windows was so refreshing 🌳 With the full glass windows, the view looked almost like a painting. It's exactly the kind of café mood I love.

We settled into the window seat my kid wanted.

We ordered honey bread, which my kid loved even back when they were 3, plus a cream bread for us. It went perfectly with coffee, and it was just enough to fill my kid up lightly.
