Gapyeong butcher shop: 400g yukhoe under ₩60,000, Ari Chuksan
In short
Ari Chuksan (아리축산) is a butcher shop in Cheongpyeong, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, right next to the Nonghyup Hanaro Mart Cheongpyeong branch. On the way to a pension, one stop at Ari Chuksan covered pork neck, skirt steak and 400g of yukhoe (Korean raw beef), possible because it happened to be a beef-butchering day, for under 60,000 won, with the yukhoe sauce given free. Lettuce wraps, ssamjang and sliced scallions are sold here too, so Ari Chuksan alone handles a whole Gapyeong camping or glamping barbecue shop.

Prepping for a Gapyeong camping barbecue — my review after buying meat at Ari Chuksan, a Gapyeong butcher shop.
Why buy Gapyeong pension barbecue meat at Ari Chuksan instead of the mart?
You can't have a Gapyeong camping trip without a barbecue party. But you need to buy meat, vegetables, and everything else to eat at the pension — so where do you go? I always used to go to the mart, but this time I tried buying fresh meat at a butcher shop instead. The place we visited is called Ari Chuksan, near Cheongpyeong Lake.
It's less than a 1-minute walk from Nonghyup Hanaro Mart's Cheongpyeong branch, so it's perfect to park at the mart, do your grocery shopping, buy the meat, and then head off to have fun.

Butchering days at Ari Chuksan: pork Tuesday and Wednesday, Korean beef Thursday
Ari Chuksan butchers pork every Tuesday and Wednesday, and Korean beef on Thursdays. They have all kinds of camping meats — lamb ribs, tomahawk, you name it. Plus they sell king oyster mushrooms, lettuce, and various other vegetables to go with the meat, so you might not even need to go to the mart!

On top of the meat, they also sell various meal kits, so you can finish all your Gapyeong camping barbecue prep in one place. The meat quality is great and the cuts are varied. Since they butcher fresh every week, the freshness really stands out. The meat quality was great, so it was delicious.

Small packs that suit two people
This Gapyeong butcher shop has a wide variety of beef, lamb, and pork, which I liked. They also sell small, single-pack portions that aren't a burden for two people to eat, so even light eaters can buy without worry.

There's a lot to pair with the meat — garlic, sliced scallions, lettuce, chili peppers, and more — so I bought lettuce and ssamjang (dipping sauce) too.

It's great that you can buy all the barbecue sides — wrap veggies, various sauces — in the same place. I stopped by before heading to the pension, and everything looked fresh at a glance, and tasted even better — a very satisfying Gapyeong butcher shop.

400g of yukhoe, only because it was a beef-butchering day
Turns out the day we went happened to be a beef-butchering day! They said yukhoe was available, so we had 400g packed. Mungtigi (raw beef slices) was also available, and it was nice that the yukhoe sauce came free.

Pork neck, skirt steak and yukhoe for under 60,000 won
Even after buying pork neck, skirt steak, and yukhoe — this much — it came to under ₩60,000, an incredibly good-value Gapyeong pension meat shop! The yukhoe portion was surprisingly generous, and it was so delicious and fresh we ate almost all of it. The pork neck was tasty, the beef was tasty... plus lots of unusual specialty cuts... A full route: shop at the mart next door, buy the meat at the butcher shop!

Are Cheongpyeong tourist-area prices still fair next to the mart?
Ari Chuksan is located near the Cheongpyeong mart, making it the perfect stop for travelers heading to Gapyeong or Cheongpyeong pensions. They also sell Korean beef, Korean pork, pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl for charcoal grilling, and thick-cut barbecue gift sets.
I worried a butcher shop near a tourist spot and campground might be expensive, but it was actually reasonable compared to mart prices, and the meat quality was great — very satisfying. They also thoughtfully threw in little extras like sliced scallions and scallion sauce, which made for a pleasant purchase.

Especially the yukhoe — seriously so good!! Mixed with the sauce they gave us, it was really delicious. There's a wide variety of meat and it comes in small individual packs, so it's great for trying a bit of everything. If you're heading to Gapyeong for a pension, camping, or glamping trip and need to buy meat, give this Gapyeong butcher shop, Ari Chuksan, a visit.

We grilled up beef and pork at Gapyeong glamping, and the skirt steak just melted in the mouth. A great-value Gapyeong butcher shop — Ari Chuksan is recommended!
