Family café in Gumi with a floor-seated kids’ zone: Hands Coffee

I went back to Hands Coffee Gumi Goa-eup Branch (핸즈커피 구미고아읍점), which I had previously visited with my baby, this time with my family for dessert. When I came before with friends from my postpartum care center and our babies, I was pleased with its floor-seated area.

Is it easy to visit by car with a baby?

The café is at 96 Wondae-ro, Goa-eup, Gumi-si. The parking lot was spacious, so I parked comfortably when I visited.

What are the window views and seating like?

The large floor-to-ceiling windows gave a clear view of the scenery outside. I visited once on a clear day and this time on a rainy day, and I liked the different atmosphere each created.

There were tables for four and six people, sofa seats, and group seating in a separate area. The first-floor room also looked out through floor-to-ceiling windows, so I could take in the rainy-day atmosphere.

What kids’ zone and baby-care facilities are there?

There were two floor-seated kids’ zones where babies and caregivers could stay together. Each had tables, and blankets were available on one side, which made them useful when I came with friends from my postpartum care center and our babies.

In the middle of the first floor, there was a microwave and a water dispenser. I used them briefly while preparing my baby’s weaning food. A diaper-changing table and a faucet for washing a baby’s bottom were convenient too.

There were also high chairs; from what I saw, there seemed to be about six.

Are there spaces for groups or quieter seating?

The second floor also had a variety of tables and two group rooms. I thought it could work well for studying, gatherings, or meetings. It felt a little quieter than the first floor during my visit.

I could look down onto the first floor from upstairs. Although the space had high ceilings, I did not notice an echo, and I liked the interior.

What drinks and desserts are available?

The display case held desserts, bread, and juice. The menu included several kinds of drip coffee and lattes, Dutch coffee, juice, tea, and ice cream, with brunch and waffles to choose from as well.

How were the waffle and drinks I tried?

We ordered a Häagen-Dazs ice cream waffle, an iced vanilla latte, and a green tea frappe.

I had the waffle with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate.

The iced vanilla latte, which I usually enjoy, was tasty again. The green tea frappe had a strong flavor and was topped with whipped cream.

The waffle seemed to be made to order, and I remember it taking about 10–15 minutes to arrive.

The waffle was crisp outside and moist inside. Of the accompaniments, I especially liked the soft whipped cream and the chocolate with occasional chocolate chips.

The café also sold Hands Coffee drip coffee and coffee capsules.

I enjoyed waffles and drinks on this visit, but what stayed with me most was the availability of facilities that make visiting with a baby easier. The floor-seated areas and weaning-food preparation facilities made me feel glad that I had returned with my family.
