In short

Dongnaejeong Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Main Branch is a pork belly and beef brisket Korean BBQ restaurant on Dangsan-ro 30-gil near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station in Seoul. Staff grill everything at the table: jeongabrisal (pork skirt) 17,000 won, 1+ tongsamgyeop (whole pork belly) 17,000 won and chadolbagi (beef brisket) 15,000 won, served with a foil-wrapped king oyster mushroom and Dongnaejeong's signature melchorim sauce. Whenever I hang out in Seoul, Yeongdeungpo is usually where I end up meeting friends. I actually like pork belly more than beef — for every time I eat beef, I probably eat pork belly about 10 times haha 😊 The exterior of this place caught my eye right away, and it definitely holds its own as a Yeongdeungpo-gu Office restaurant worth trying — I went to Dongnaejeong, a Korean BBQ spot for pork belly :)

Interior of Dongnaejeong with about ten tables

We got in too, and it was past 7pm — seeing the place fully packed made me think, yep, found the right Yeongdeungpo-gu Office restaurant :)

White kimchi, dried radish and pickled chili: the Dongnaejeong side dish spread

They had the side dishes ready before we sat down and showed us straight to our table. White kimchi, dried radish, pickled hot peppers, and more — I loved how generous the banchan (side dishes) spread was ✨

This is Dongnaejeong's menu. Heads up — for the first order, pork neck (mokssal) has to be ordered starting from 2 servings, but the other menu items can be ordered one serving at a time (*/ω\*)

Dongnaejeong's meat menu board

It'd probably taste great just eating it plain, but they'd written up a few tips for eating it the best way! Just give it a quick read while the meat cooks.

There's also salt served among the side dishes — pour a bit of 100% domestic sesame oil in to make your own dipping oil, and dip the meat in it. Absolutely delicious.

What we ordered at Dongnaejeong and what it cost

Here's what we ordered:

  • Jeongabrisal (pork skirt) - ₩17,000
  • 1+ Tongsamgyeop (whole pork belly) - ₩17,000
  • Chadolbagi (beef brisket) - ₩15,000
  • Rice, 2 bowls - ₩2,000

At Dongnaejeong Yeongdeungpo-gu Office branch, the staff grill everything for you, so you can just relax and eat. The moment you drop your chopsticks, they're right there with new ones, and if you look like you need wet wipes, they bring those over too without even being asked 😍

Once the meat looks nicely cooked, they line it up neatly in one spot.

The foil-wrapped king oyster mushroom grilled beside the pork

What was wrapped in foil turned out to be king oyster mushroom! Thanks to the foil, all the mushroom's own juices stayed locked in, so it came out really moist.

Maybe it's because they only use 100% domestic meat, but it was soft, chewy, and melted in the mouth. This tastes like the pork belly you'd immediately think of if someone said Yeongdeungpo Korean BBQ 🤍

What is melchorim, Dongnaejeong's signature sauce?

You also get melchorim, which you could call Dongnaejeong's signature sauce.

Dip a piece deep into the melchorim and take a bite — it's the kind of flavor that gets an automatic round of applause. This is the part that earns Dongnaejeong its spot as a Yeongdeungpo-gu Office restaurant worth recommending 🤩

There were so many side dishes to pair with the meat that it was fun trying different combinations every time. But no matter what, at Dongnaejeong, dipping it deep into the melchorim is still the ultimate way to eat it haha

Chadolbagi comes seasoned by default, but you can ask for it plain

Couldn't stop there, so we ordered chadolbagi (beef brisket) too. It comes seasoned by default, but if you want it raw, just mention it when ordering!

Seasoned chadolbagi (beef brisket)

Chadolbagi really calls for the sesame oil dip — it cooks the instant it hits the grill, so eating a thick piece first round and then grilling more for round two is the perfect way to go.

How the free doenjang-jjigae with a Naver reservation works

It just wouldn't feel right to eat BBQ without doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew). This was the first time I'd seen a stew this packed with brisket and tofu. It comes free with a Naver reservation, so booking through Naver is clearly the better move, right? 😎

Does Dongnaejeong work for a group dinner in Yeongdeungpo?

Mixing rice into Dongnaejeong's signature melchorim, then piling meat on top for a bite... that flavor still crosses my mind 😋 While searching for good food in Yeongdeungpo, I ended up having a great meal at Dongnaejeong, where every single staff member was kind.

As someone who loves pork belly, I'd put this in my top 3 pork belly spots in Yeongdeungpo. The meat at Dongnaejeong is juicy and tender, the kind that just about anyone would enjoy! It also has exactly the right vibe for a Yeongdeungpo work dinner. If you're weighing options for a Yeongdeungpo-gu Office restaurant, a Yeongdeungpo restaurant in general, or a Yeongdeungpo work dinner spot, go check out Dongnaejeong :)
