Afternoon drinks at 4:30pm: a Korean BBQ near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station with no break time

After a rare relaxed afternoon, I headed to Dongnaejeong for an early dinner-slash-daytime drinking session. I showed up at the slightly awkward hour of 4:30pm, but this place has no break time, so you can enjoy great meat and drinks from early in the day — that's its biggest strength.

For anyone who loves daytime drinking, there's no better Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station BBQ restaurant than this.

Inside Dongnaejeong: an open layout with a street-tent feel

Walking in, the warm lighting blended nicely with the sleek interior for a great atmosphere. Unlike a typical noisy, crowded restaurant, it felt cozy — perfect for a date spot too. The layout is especially open, which made it feel like grilling meat at an outdoor tent bar (pojangmacha), great for this kind of weather.

While we were eating, more and more customers kept streaming in until the place filled up in no time. Thanks to the pleasant space and good vibe, it's popular for work dinners, friend gatherings, dates, and family meals alike — a favorite Yeongdeungpo-gu Office BBQ restaurant.

The menu: two servings of flower pork jowl and Jeju sanbang bibim milmyeon

Looking at the menu, there's a wide range of pork cuts — gabrisal, pork neck, whole pork belly, pork jowl, and more — so you can pick to your taste. Since there were two of us, we ordered two servings of chewy, irresistible pork jowl and Jeju sanbang bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed buckwheat noodles) to cut through the richness of the meat.

Spicy mustard leaf kimchi (gatkimchi), savory pickled sides, and all sorts of sauces were set out to pair with the meat, making for a generously full table.

Tableside grilling: staff cook the pork for you

One of the biggest draws here is the grilling service. No need to grill the meat yourself — a skilled staff member comes to the table and grills it to perfection for you. You just focus on the conversation and eat comfortably — really convenient.

How did the flower pork jowl taste?

Finally it was time to taste the golden-brown grilled pork jowl. The moment I bit in, that signature slightly crunchy, chewy texture of pork jowl hit along with a burst of savory juices.

The right amount of fat met the smoky char for doubled flavor, and a bite of tangy gatkimchi perfectly cut the richness, so it never got tiring.

If you're after properly charcoal-grilled pork belly or pork jowl at a Yeongdeungpo-gu Office drinking spot, the quality here will satisfy anyone. The Jeju sanbang bibim milmyeon, a perfect match for the meat, also exceeded expectations.

The chewy, springy milmyeon noodles were deeply coated in a spicy-sweet yet clean sauce. With a touch of broth added, it wasn't dry and felt refreshing, and wrapping a leftover piece of savory pork jowl into the spicy noodles was pure artistry.

Final verdict on Dongnaejeong in Yeongdeungpo

Great meat, the convenience of tableside grilling, and a wonderful tent-bar-like atmosphere — this place has all three. You can visit any time and enjoy high-quality pork, so it's definitely worth a stop.

It works just as well as a hearty meal or a great drinking spot — a true Yeongdeungpo-gu Office and Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station BBQ favorite. Next time, I plan to come back with friends for delicious pork belly and soju at this Yeongdeungpo-gu Office drinking spot.
