I visited Hippy, a dessert café in Jeonpo, Busan. It's a place with a warm interior and standout desserts that draws a lot of visitors haha 😋

Where is Hippy in Jeonpo, and where do you park?

Hippy is set pretty far up in the Jeonpo area. Walking there gives your legs a little bit of a workout? Even so, people still walk over on foot 👍

If you drive, you'll need to use a nearby paid parking lot. I used Jeil Parking Lot, a 2-minute walk away — ₩1,000 for 20 minutes.

What is Hippy like inside? Wood interior with Totoro energy

A cozy, warm atmosphere gives this Jeonpo café real character. It has a bit of a My Neighbor Totoro feel — a cute little spot.

Wood interior in matching beige tones, with plants dotted around as accents — it feels like a scene out of a cartoon. Hippy also sells its own merch, plus little items like birthday cake candles and cups.

Hippy's private room for small gatherings

Hippy is also a great place to visit as a group! You can book ahead to use a separate, private room. For a small get-together, having a cozy hideout-style room like this is definitely a plus haha

Cream pies and the pongshin roll cake are Hippy's main desserts. The prices are reasonable and they look so pretty that ordering one just puts you in a good mood 😋 There's also a wide range of drinks — coffee, lattes, ades, teas — so there's plenty to choose from.

These cream pies are just so, so pretty 🤤 I'm the type who thinks dessert needs to look good, not just taste good, and this fully delivers on that front.

Fig cream pie at Hippy: an honest taste review

What I ordered: fig cream pie ₩9,000, plum ade ₩7,000, and Hippy latte ₩6,500.

Figs are a summer-to-autumn fruit, so this cream pie is only around for a limited window. The price changes depending on fig market prices — it was ₩9,000 when I visited. Hippy rolls out new menus every season, and I hear strawberry cream pie is coming once it gets chilly, so now I'm wondering if I need to come back for that too haha

I was told to definitely cut it so I'd get the topping, cream and pastry all in one bite. And doing it that way really did taste better! The pastry had a slightly sugary crunch that reminded me of Nunaetine, but the sweetness was subtle rather than intense, so it felt guilt-free and good. The cream also wasn't overly rich, with a light, fluffy texture. Overall it's a pretty restrained sweetness. Because of that, it pairs better with a sweeter drink or Hippy's signature latte rather than an Americano!

Hippy latte: tastes like a Deowisanyang ice bar

This is the Hippy latte. It's made with house-made espresso slush ice, so it's extra cool and gets richer as the ice melts.

With hazelnut added, it tastes remarkably close to a Deowisanyang bar lol. It gets tastier as the ice melts, so I'd recommend stirring it as you drink.

Sipping the sweet cream on top and then drinking the latte through the straw — it's sweet and nutty enough to pair perfectly with dessert, so it's a must-order alongside cream pie.

Plum ade at Hippy: tastes like plum candy

A not-so-common plum ade 🍒 You know those giant hard candies that come in a plum flavor? It tastes exactly like that. Sweet, with a deep sort of tartness.

Again, you have to stir it well before drinking. The color is so pretty that just mixing it feels relaxing ✨

The window seat at Hippy, where a green tree fits perfectly into the frame, made for a truly relaxing moment. This window seat in particular seems to have the best atmosphere in the café — great for photos, and it just puts you in the best mood.
