Jelly shop near Inspire Hotel, Yeongjong: trip snacks at Rolly Polly

Today's spot is the jelly place everyone raves about in Yeongjong — Rolly Polly, haha.

While staying two nights three days at Inspire Hotel in Incheon, I was looking up places to go with my kid and ended up at the Yeongjong branch of Rolly Polly!

Why we stopped at Rolly Polly during our three-day stay at Inspire Hotel

This trip was a relaxed two-night, three-day stay at Inspire Hotel, spent exploring and playing with my kid. When you're traveling, you need snacks your kid likes on hand, plus something quick for when energy dips mid-day. So we went in for a fun browse and to pick out some everyday snacks too.

The moment we walked in, the first thing that caught my kid's eye was, of course, the colorful jellies. There were way more varieties than I expected, and just looking around was fun.

Some were snacks we'd seen at the supermarket before, but a lot of the jellies looked totally new to us. My kid going through them one by one, agonizing over which to pick, was so cute. With so many shapes, colors, and types, it must have felt like a tiny snack paradise to her.

What I liked most was that my kid got to pick things out herself. On a trip, rather than just following whatever the parents decide, the moment a kid points and says 'I want this!' is part of the fun. I figured only the jelly would be varied, but the slime selection was huge too.

If your kid likes slime, this is a place they could browse for ages. So many types, colors, and textures — my kid looked around for quite a while. Getting to pick both something to eat and something to play with had her genuinely excited.

Choosing travel snacks to eat back at the hotel

Since we were staying two nights three days at Inspire Hotel, we picked out a few snacks for the trip too. They're great for relaxing at the hotel, and you know how both kids and adults hit that energy slump at some point during a full day of sightseeing.

Pulling out a snack together at those moments was one of the little joys of the trip. Especially when my kid started getting tired or worn out from all the moving around, saying 'Should we have a snack?' would perk her right back up.

With so much to see and so much walking on this trip, snacking together mid-way became more than just filling up — it turned into little breaks for us to chat. And seeing how happy she was with the snacks she'd picked herself made me happy too.

Traveling with a kid, I think a parent's biggest joy really is just watching them have fun. Hearing her say 'Mom, this is so good!' with that happy face made me excited too.

Snacking at the hotel while relaxing, sharing snacks when energy dipped mid-trip, and watching her pick out things she liked — looking back, stopping by Rolly Polly Yeongjong turned out to be a pretty fun part of this trip.

For anyone staying at Inspire Hotel and exploring the area like we did, it's also a solid place to pack travel snacks. This trip we spent two nights three days at Inspire, played our hearts out with my kid, ate well, and shared snacks along the way — it was a pretty great time.

What stuck with me most was seeing my kid so excited picking out jelly and slime she liked. I think travel doesn't have to mean hitting big tourist spots — finding one thing your kid loves and laughing together over it is what makes the good memories.

On this Yeongjong trip too, getting to pick out snacks my kid loves and share them together whenever energy dipped made for a really good time — and it made me happy too.

It would also be perfect to visit on days when you want to prepare a special snack or gift with your kid, like Valentine's Day, White Day, Halloween, or Children's Day.

Browsing all the jellies and slime you don't normally get to see, and letting your kid pick their own, would make for a nice little gift on a special day.

Next time I'd like to come back with my kid for one of those special occasions. My kid really loved this visit to Rolly Polly during our Yeongjong trip, and seeing her so happy made me happy right along with her :)

Rolly Polly apparently built its know-how over more than 10 years before establishing the company in 2014! They say they specialize in candy and jelly from premium manufacturers around the world!

My favorite detail — they say the products are safe and approved by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety!

• Once jelly is in your container, you can't put it back
• Kids need an adult's help
• Don't scoop with your hands
• Leave drinks at the counter
