Busan milmyeon restaurant, no wait at 2 pm weekday: Seomyeon Milmyeon

In short

Seomyeon Milmyeon is a milmyeon (chewy cold noodle) restaurant in the Eos Plaza building in Busanjin-gu, Busan. Walking in at 2 pm on a weekday meant no wait, and the order came to ₩10,000 for mul-milmyeon (cold broth noodles), ₩10,000 for bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) and ₩7,500 for dumplings, with the mul-milmyeon sauce seasoned more strongly than the bibim version. Thin, soft noodles and chewy dumpling skins make Seomyeon Milmyeon an easy recommendation for a cold bowl of noodles in Seomyeon.

Mul-milmyeon and dumplings, the signature dish at Seomyeon Milmyeon

What do you think of when you think Busan? Milmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), of course~ It's the tail end of summer but I was craving cool Busan-style milmyeon, so while I was in Seomyeon I stopped by Seomyeon Milmyeon and even had dumplings haha.

Where is Seomyeon Milmyeon, and is there parking?

Seomyeon Milmyeon is located at 25 Seojeon-ro, Busanjin-gu, in Eos Plaza, on the spot where the Seomyeon NC Department Store used to be. It's close to Jeonpo, so it's convenient to swing by a café afterward, and having parking available makes it a ray of light in the crowded land of Seomyeon.

You can use the Eos parking lot in the Eos Plaza building, and you get 30 minutes of free parking! It's tower parking, but the owner felt friendly for Busan standards haha.

Visiting at 2 pm on a weekday: was there a wait?

As a proper Seomyeon milmyeon hotspot, Seomyeon Milmyeon can get a wait, so orders go through a kiosk instead. If the restaurant is full, you wait outside first, then order at the kiosk once seated. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday and got in with no wait.

The interior is more compact than I expected for a well-known milmyeon spot. It's on the narrow side, but milmyeon places turn tables fast, so 30 minutes is plenty of time to finish a meal. Still, the table layout makes the most of every corner!

TV appearances and celebrity visits are a given at this Busan milmyeon restaurant. It's a genuine local favorite that countless well-known figures have visited, so there's no doubting the taste. In fact there were quite a few foreign visitors too — Japanese, Chinese, and other travelers were around.

The self-serve bar is stocked more with tableware than side dishes. Spoons, a baby fork, small plates — check! Each table has its own chopsticks, mustard, and vinegar.

Seomyeon Milmyeon menu and prices

The menu at this Seomyeon milmyeon restaurant is short and simple. Mul-milmyeon ₩10,000, bibim milmyeon ₩10,000, extra noodles ₩3,000, dumplings ₩7,500.

There's just the mul-milmyeon and the (wet) bibim milmyeon as the single core menu, plus dumplings, which would be a shame to skip at a Busan milmyeon place.

The complimentary broth and side dishes

Thick pickled radish and radish kimchi side dishes

When you order, broth and side dishes come out first. The broth looks slightly clear but has a strong peppery kick, spicy and delicious 😋 The pickled radish was thick and easy to eat, and the crisp, tangy radish kimchi was tasty too.

My order: mul-milmyeon ₩10,000, bibim milmyeon ₩10,000, dumplings ₩7,500.

Bibim milmyeon at Seomyeon Milmyeon with generous toppings

Bibim milmyeon, ₩10,000: gently sweet and spicy

The bibim milmyeon (₩10,000) is a slightly wet mixed-noodle style with a bit of liquid. Seomyeon Milmyeon is generous with toppings, and the beef topping is torn like braised beef, which actually made it easier to eat along with the noodles.

The noodles are on the thin side, which made them even softer and easier to bite through. They recommend not cutting the noodles with scissors for the best eating experience, and following that advice was fun and kept the flow going. But I was worried about splashing my clothes, so I took one bite and cut them with scissors right away haha.

Bibim milmyeon mixed with sauce at Seomyeon Milmyeon

The bibim milmyeon's seasoning isn't strong — it's on the mild side. Spicy-sweet but mellow, with no harsh kick, and since the sauce isn't bright red, it seems fine even on an empty stomach haha. It's not a sauce that grabs you instantly, but like naengmyeon (cold noodles), it's the kind of addictive bibim milmyeon that keeps you reaching for another bite.

Mul-milmyeon at Seomyeon Milmyeon with slushy ice floating on top

Mul-milmyeon, ₩10,000: seasoned stronger than the bibim bowl

Mul-milmyeon (₩10,000). Slushy ice floating on top, cool just to look at, and the thick layer of sauce on top looked rich enough to instantly perk up my appetite.

Soft mul-milmyeon noodles submerged in broth

The noodles have zero flour taste, which seems to be the real hook of this Seomyeon milmyeon spot. I have no idea how they make the noodles, but it was surprising how soft they were and how well they soaked up the broth for a rich, savory flavor.

Mul-milmyeon broth mixed with sauce

The mul-milmyeon actually had a stronger seasoning than the bibim milmyeon. After finishing the noodles and drinking the broth, it almost tasted bland by comparison. Because the seasoning was already strong, I ate it plain without adding mustard or vinegar. It fully satisfied my taste-bud dopamine 🤤

Dumplings, ₩7,500: thin skins that still turn out chewy

Dumplings (₩7,500). The chewy dumpling skin is the standout feature of these meat dumplings at Seomyeon Milmyeon! The filling was packed full and the skin was so chewy, it went perfectly with the soft milmyeon.

How do they make it thin yet chewy at the same time... 😋

Dumplings plus bibim milmyeon is an unbeatable combo. A mouthful of dumpling paired with the tangy-sweet bibim milmyeon blends together in perfect harmony. I enjoyed every last bite at this Busan Seomyeon milmyeon spot 😆

Is Seomyeon Milmyeon worth a visit?
