Ganghwa duck restaurant for a post-hike lunch: Deok Ori Jumulleok
In short
Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch is a duck restaurant in Gilsang-myeon, near Mani Mountain in Ganghwa, Incheon. After a hike and morning yoga, this couple ordered two servings of samchae duck roast (₩22,000 per person) and fried rice (₩3,000), pre-grilled over charcoal briquettes and then finished by staff who flip the duck under paper foil. Deok Ori Jumulleok is a light, clean-tasting refuel about 10 minutes from both Ganghwa Luge and Mani Mountain, so it slots easily into a travel route.

Last weekend we visited my husband's hometown. After a bit of hiking and morning yoga together on Ganghwa's Gyodong Island, we felt refreshed and went looking for a duck restaurant at the foot of Mani Mountain to refuel.
Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch

Where is Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch, and is there parking?
Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch sits near Yeoumakgogae, on the Onsu-ri side of Gilsang-myeon in Ganghwa. It's 10 minutes from Ganghwa Luge and 10 minutes from Mani Mountain, so it's easy to work into your route. The exterior has that real hidden-gem feel, and there's plenty of parking space right in front.
The heart-opening rice-field view from the parking lot 💚

Deok Ori Jumulleok hours and early closing
This place has even appeared on the TV show Saengbangsong Today. Its hours are as listed above, and to keep the duck fresh and flavorful, it may close early once the day's prepared meat is sold out.

Is the dining room comfortable with a baby?
The dining room isn't cramped — tables are spaced generously apart. Families, couples, and all sorts of guests come here, and with high chairs available, it looks like a good spot to visit with a baby too.

Why we chose samchae duck roast over jumulleok at ₩22,000
Given the name Deok Ori Jumulleok, the spicy stir-fried jumulleok seemed like the signature dish, so I thought about ordering that. But since we'd just done yoga, we wanted something a bit lighter, so we went with the roast instead.

Basic side dishes and lettuce wraps came out first,

Water is self-serve, and you can also grab extra vegetables like pickled radish yourself; for refills on side dishes, just ask at the kitchen counter. The candied sweet potato was such a nostalgic treat that we finished it fast and asked for a refill.

Even from inside, wide-open windows show mountains and forest, so you can eat with both eyes and mind at ease.

Charcoal pre-grilling and duck flipped under paper foil
The duck comes pre-grilled over charcoal outside. The owner grills it deliciously. Ooh, it already looks so appetizing~

After the first grilling, a staff member adds perilla leaves and grills the duck roast again, deliciously. Flipping it under paper foil is fun to watch, haha~

The duck roast, nicely cooked together with vegetables.

What is samchae? Tasting Jirisan samchae with duck
They came over saying they'd forgotten to add the samchae (a root herb, literally "three vegetables") and put it in for us. We'd assumed samchae just meant three kinds of vegetables, so with all the veggies already piled high, we had no idea anything was missing — we were just happily anticipating the meal, haha.

Afterward we spotted the sign explaining samchae. I'd never heard the name before, but tasting it, it had a ginseng-like medicinal herb flavor that, combined with the duck, felt like real nourishment :)

Well-cooked duck wrapped in a perilla leaf with vegetables, yum~

How much fried rice to order with two servings of duck
After enjoying the duck with its light smoky flavor, we added one fried rice (₩3,000) to the leftover oil, vegetables, and bits of meat. A staff member flipped and stir-fried it nicely with the foil again. They said one fried rice per two servings of duck is the best ratio. Light, savory duck fried rice on top of everything — we filled up well.
My husband brought over dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth from the self-serve corner. Cool and refreshing, it was a nice, clean way to finish :)
Fitting Deok Ori Jumulleok into a Ganghwa travel route
Deok Ori Jumulleok was a friendly, delicious duck restaurant in Ganghwa. On the drive home, I drove us back safely, which made both my husband and me feel proud and fulfilled — a happy way to end the weekend 🦋 Stop by when visiting Jeondeungsa Temple, Mani Mountain, or Ganghwa Luge :)
