Julseoneun Banjeom is one of our go-to spots, and every menu item has its own charm. 🤤

Where is Julseoneun Banjeom Gangnae, and what are its hours?

📌 Hours: 11:00–20:00 (break time 14:20–17:00), last order 19:10, closed every Sunday

Julseoneun Banjeom is located on Wolgok-gil in Gangnae (park on the street around the restaurant). It's near Chungcheong University, so it's convenient to visit from Gangnae, and it's also an easy drive from Osong.

True to its name, which means "the restaurant people line up for," there are even waiting chairs out front haha.

What is the restaurant like inside?

With such a wide variety of menu items, it's a great spot for a family visit where everyone picks what they feel like eating. When we visited, we saw not just young customers but a lot of neighborhood elders too.

There are plenty of trendy, aesthetic restaurants out there these days, but Julseoneun Banjeom felt like a true neighborhood spot in all its small details.

Signatures left by past customers everywhere, and even a jjamppong-shaped clock *.* It really felt like a place that's been loved for a long time.

Julseoneun Banjeom offers everything from classic Chinese restaurant dishes to some slightly unusual fusion items.

Of course there's jajangmyeon, ganjajang (thick black bean noodles), and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), plus green onion beef brisket jjamppong, cream jjamppong, lemon tangsuyuk, chili tangsuyuk, kkanshyo fried rice, and more. The kkanshyo fried rice in particular is a limited item, only 30 bowls made a day, and unfortunately it was sold out.

Sweet and tangy lemon tangsuyuk, 13,900 won

Lemon tangsuyuk served in a blue bowl

This version adds lemon for an extra refreshing touch compared to regular tangsuyuk.

Picking up a piece of lemon tangsuyuk

I thought the lemon might make it too sour, but it wasn't overpowering at all and went really well with the sweet and tangy sauce. And it's very generous for the price 🤤

Pork loin ganjajang with big chunks of loin, 9,000 won

The rich, distinctive ganjajang sauce comes with generous chunks of pork loin, giving it a different feel from regular jajangmyeon.

The onions and vegetables kept their crunch, and the jajang sauce had just the right balance of sweet and salty.

Pork loin ganjajang with added chili flakes

I wanted a bit of spice, so I added some chili flakes!

Stir-fried cream jjamppong, smooth and unusual, 12,000 won

A bowl of cream jjamppong

This was my first time trying cream jjamppong. Since it had cream in it, I worried it might be too rich, but it was more sweet than heavy.

The cream sauce blended well with the seafood and noodles, giving it a nutty, smooth flavor.

If you usually like the soft flavor of cream pasta, I'd recommend this one.

  • Kkanshyo fried rice: The bouncy shrimp paired with the kkanshyo sauce is great. If it's not sold out when you visit, order it without hesitation!
  • Chili tangsuyuk: If lemon tangsuyuk is bright and refreshing, chili tangsuyuk is richer and more craveable — pick whichever matches your mood.
  • Green onion beef brisket jjamppong: If you like a fiery jjamppong, this one might suit your taste more than the cream jjamppong.
