Goyang bakery café with geisha americano and fig roll cake: Baedagol

On days when I'm driving out near Seoul, I want a café that's spacious and relaxed. Especially if you're looking for somewhere good to go with a baby, you end up searching for a place that's easy to park at and easy to bring a stroller into. This time I visited Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang, Goyang.

Every time I come here, the staff are friendly and there's a great variety of good coffee and bread, so it's always a café I visit for a feel-good escape. There were no steps or thresholds on the way in, so it was easy to bring the stroller.

Outdoor terrace and second-floor seating at Baedagol Bakery House

On cool, pleasant days like these, the outdoor terrace seats are popular too. The flowers are planted beautifully and the tree landscaping looks great, so it's a place where you can spend a relaxed time with a coffee in the garden. Especially with a baby, staying indoors the whole time can feel stuffy, so having the terrace made it nice to step out for some air now and then.

The interior is clean and pleasant too. Seating goes up to the second floor, so it's on the roomier side. The tables aren't packed tightly together either, so even with the stroller it was easy to stay comfortably.

I've been practicing going out with the baby lately, and a spacious café like this was surprisingly welcome.

I visited on a weekday afternoon, and with the nice weather and the pretty view through the windows, it was truly relaxing. It's also a good spot to bring your parents, and the photos come out beautifully, so you don't even need a separate photo zone.

What bread does Baedagol Bakery House sell?

True to being a bakery café, there was a wide variety of bread prepared. I'm someone who likes picking out a tasty bread to eat alongside my coffee rather than just drinking coffee alone, so it was fun to browse. The bread and cakes are kept fresh in a glass fridge. If you're visiting with a group, it's great for ordering according to everyone's taste and sharing.

Red bean butter baguette, scones, chestnut bread, sweet red bean bread and more — it was hard to decide what to eat. Every bread looked so appetizing that picking one was half the fun.

They also sell cakes, including fruit cakes made with fresh seasonal fruit sold by the slice.

There's also roll cake that everyone loves, sold by the slice. I chose the fig roll cake.

Onion ciabatta, gorgonzola campagne. The bread lineup isn't boring — there's a lot with real character.

Almond croissant, basil tomato, princess chestnut bread, chestnut streusel. The loaves are large too, and the prices are reasonable, which must be why people keep coming back.

The squid ink crumble bread looked delicious too.

Pandoro, tomato pan cheese, plain scone and more — the variety is really extensive.

Tasting the geisha americano, six-clove garlic bread and fig roll cake

I ordered an iced americano, six-clove garlic bread, and fig roll cake. There were quite a lot of iced americano options. I ordered the geisha bean americano, and its acidic, full-bodied flavor was exactly my style.

With sunlight streaming into the café, some people were quietly working, while others were visiting with family or meeting up with friends. Since it's the kind of café most people drive to, it's a great spot to stop by as part of a drive.

The fig roll cake had soft whipped cream and wasn't too sweet. It had slices of fresh fig inside. The cake sponge was moist too, and the cream went really well with the fig.

The six-clove garlic bread had cream cheese packed generously inside, and the fragrant garlic bread paired really well with the cream cheese. It was perfect with the coffee.

If you're looking for a bakery café in Wondang, Goyang, I'd recommend Baedagol Bakery House. The atmosphere is nice, the bread is delicious, the coffee is delicious. The staff are friendly too, so it's a café I'd want to visit regularly once I've been.
