A review of Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae, which was nice to visit with a kid on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae

When we go out for dinner with a kid, taste matters, but so does whether the seats are comfortable and whether there's something on the menu the kid can actually eat.

Looking for somewhere simple to eat on a weekday evening near Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, I ended up at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch.

Chinese restaurants tend to be a bit loud and chaotic,

but here the seats were spacious and the atmosphere calm, so it was a decent spot for going with a baby in Haeundae.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch has a basement parking lot behind the building, and roadside parking was possible both in front of the store and across the street. Parking around Dalmaji-gil can be a hassle in a lot of places, so it's the kind of thing you check before going.

Getting out of the car and walking to the restaurant with a kid is honestly a bit of a chore.

It was convenient that Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch had roadside parking right in front of the store :)

Inside Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae: seating and high chairs

The inside of Bueokgan Chinese was much cleaner and calmer than I expected. Instead of the typical red, flashy Chinese-restaurant look, the lighting was soft,

and the seats were spaced out widely, which made for a comfortable meal.

The window seats had a view outside, and the tables weren't cramped, so sitting there with a kid didn't feel like a burden.

And a high chair was ready and waiting.

When you're eating out with a kid, just having one high chair makes the whole meal so much easier haha

Bueokgan Chinese wasn't too noisy and had fairly spacious seating, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a restaurant to go to with a baby in Haeundae.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae menu: what to order with a kid

Bueokgan Chinese had a wide menu beyond the basics of jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. After agonizing over what a kid could eat too... here's the three dishes we ended up choosing!

Since we were eating together with a kid, I picked dishes that weren't too strongly seasoned, something a kid could actually eat.

Fried rice is basically the default pick for a kid's dish at a Chinese restaurant haha

For reference, we didn't need to bring our own kids' dishware, which was convenient :)

How is the poached-egg pork belly gan-jjajang?

The dish I was most looking forward to at Bueokgan Chinese was the poached-egg pork belly jjajang.

Visually it was clearly different from a regular jjajangmyeon, and with the poached egg on top, I was curious about it even before I started eating.

The jjajang sauce leaned sweet rather than salty or spicy.

Breaking the poached egg and mixing it in made the sauce much smoother, and the noodles stayed moist all the way through.

There was also pork belly to bite into here and there, so even though it's just a bowl of jjajangmyeon, it felt fairly hearty.

It wasn't just noodles with sauce — the added meat texture made me understand why this is a popular menu item at Bueokgan Chinese.

Is the shrimp fried rice easy for a child to eat?

The shrimp fried rice I ordered as the kid's dish at Bueokgan Chinese was more satisfying than expected.

Fried rice that's too salty or oily can be a bit much to feed a kid,

but Bueokgan Chinese's shrimp fried rice wasn't heavily seasoned, so it worked out fine.

The grains were nicely separated, and with shrimp mixed in, my kid ate it well.

It was solidly tasty for adult taste buds too, and it was a good dish to share with a kid.

It's hard to find dishes that suit a kid's taste when you're eating out with a baby in Haeundae, but Bueokgan Chinese's shrimp fried rice was pretty good!!

Is the black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk sauce strong?

From the name alone, I thought Bueokgan Chinese's black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk might have a strong sauce, but once I actually tried it, it wasn't overwhelming at all.

The outside was crispy, and the batter had a slightly chewy texture.

The sauce hit tangy first, followed by sweetness, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more.

At first the portion looked like a lot and I thought we might not finish it, but we ended up polishing it all off haha

It wasn't overly greasy, and the sauce cut through the richness, so it went well alongside the jjajangmyeon and fried rice.

If you're visiting Bueokgan Chinese with a group, the tangsuyuk is a good dish to order and share.

What dinner with a young child was actually like

One reason I liked Bueokgan Chinese was that the atmosphere felt less stressful even with a kid along.

Chinese restaurants in Haeundae often have cramped table spacing or loud, chaotic environments.

But this place had an overall upscale-restaurant feel, so sitting there with a kid wasn't too uncomfortable.

There was a high chair, and they had kids' dishware ready, which was convenient!

If you're looking for a restaurant to go to with a baby in Haeundae and want a clean-feeling Chinese restaurant, Bueokgan Chinese seems like a solid option :)

Bueokgan Chinese was a clean, comfortable Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, good to visit with a kid on Dalmaji-gil.

The poached-egg pork belly jjajang wasn't too salty or spicy, and thanks to the poached egg it stayed moist to the last bite; the shrimp fried rice was mild enough for a kid to eat without issue.

The black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk's sweet-and-tangy sauce also matched better than I expected, and we enjoyed it right to the end.

Chinese restaurants are usually the kind of place you hesitate about going to with a kid,

but Bueokgan Chinese had a clean interior and a high chair, making it a decent restaurant to visit with a baby in Haeundae too.
