🥩 A great-value thin-sliced pork belly restaurant found near Gangnam Station, Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch
Why Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch for pork belly near Nonhyeon Station?
Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is a thin-sliced pork belly restaurant in the food alley near Nonhyeon Station Exit 3, with pork belly at 4,900 won per 100g. I was trying to figure out what to eat in Gangnam and suddenly craved thin-sliced pork belly, so I went with a friend!
Because the slices are so thin, they cook fast and it's fun to grill just a little at a time as you feel like eating more — it's the dish I somehow think of often when I'm craving meat .ᐟ I was looking for a place to eat meat without breaking the bank and ended up here :)

Inside Daepae Market: indoor tables and the outdoor terrace

There's a big sign out front in the Nonhyeon food alley, so it caught my eye even from a distance .ᐟ

There's also an outdoor terrace, so grilling meat outside would probably feel great on a nice day 𓂃 𓈒𓏸

Every table has a tablet ordering system, so you can order right from your seat without having to call a staff member — convenient! Daepae Market has all sorts of meat options besides thin-sliced pork belly — thin-sliced pork neck, thin-sliced pork belly (ogyeopsal), and chewy pork belly (jjolsamgyeopsal) — all listed at 4,900 won per 100g.

Once inside, the place was bigger than I expected! Plenty of tables, so no need to worry about seating!
The self-serve bar at Daepae Market costs 2,000 won per person

The self-serve bar fee at Daepae Market is 2,000 won per person. There's a corner set up where you can grab whatever vegetables or side dishes you feel like eating. You take as much as you want of the vegetables, side dishes, and sauces.

I eat a ton of wrap vegetables when I have meat, so I loved having a self-serve bar. Wrap vegetables are the best ,, 🤍 What do you all like to wrap your meat in?

Once seated, the table already had sesame seeds, pepper, and sesame oil set out .ᐟ I dipped the meat lightly in sesame oil, or sprinkled on sesame seeds and pepper to taste.

Came back with a generous scoop of tasty corn kernels~!

And to go with the meat, there were also basic sides of green onion kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) .ᐟ Grilling a piece of thin-sliced pork belly and wrapping it with green onion kimchi is delicious, and grilling kimchi alongside it so it gets a little cooked in the meat's fat makes it even tastier — you all know that haha
Choosing your pork belly thickness at Daepae Market: 1.5mm or 3mm?

Daepae Market's thin-sliced pork belly is priced at a fairly reasonable 4,900 won per 100g, which really caught my eye. You can also choose the meat thickness between 1.5mm and 3mm. We went with 3mm!

You can't have meat without doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) .ᐟ The doenjang stew we ordered alongside came out bubbling hot.

Once the grill was heated up, it was finally time for the meat .ᐟ They spread out the rolled-up thin slices of pork belly one by one on the grill, and since the slices are so thin, they cooked in no time!
The meat was grilled really well, so we ate happily 🤍 The grilling skills really were something else..!

So there was no need to wait long — grilling a little at a time and eating it right away while hot was the tastiest way to go haha

I'd recommend grilling the meat over low heat. Since the slices are so thin, they can burn quickly over high heat, so cooking it slowly seems best!
Garlic and enoki on the grill, doenjang stew and cold noodles to finish

It wasn't just meat on the grill — garlic, enoki mushrooms, and bracken fern were grilled together too .ᐟ The fun of adding all sorts of things. Especially eating a piece of golden-grilled garlic together with a slice of thin pork belly ,, garlic really is essential when eating meat

And while the meat is delicious on its own, I also loved dipping it in the onion sauce .ᐟ A sweet, savory-salty sauce, yum!

Piling wrap vegetables with garlic on top and eating it all in one big bite .ᐟ

After all that meat, you can't skip mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) at the end .ᐟ Cool broth with chewy noodles — ate it all up happily!
