I was craving pork belly out of nowhere the other day. I love the thick-cut kind, but I also love frozen thin-sliced (daepae) pork belly. I had such a good meal at [Daepae Market Gangnam], a great-value BBQ restaurant in Nonhyeon!! The self-serve bar had so many vegetables and side dishes that the meal felt even more generous.

Overall the place was really spacious and comfortable. With so many tables, it's great for group gatherings and company dinners. Being a 24-hour spot in Gangnam, it's perfect for a late-night drink or meal. The ventilation worked really well too, so there was no lingering smell — very pleasant.
The wide outdoor terrace by the entrance
The evening weather has been so nice and cool lately — terrace season!! There's a spacious outdoor terrace right by the entrance. The seating area is quite roomy with plenty of tables, and I really liked it here. Eating in that open-air space almost felt like camping!!
Pork sliced fresh on the meat cutter after you order
There's a big meat-slicing machine on one side of the restaurant. As soon as I ordered, the meat was sliced fresh and brought right out. That's definitely why the meat condition and quality were so good. It was even plated beautifully!!

The all-you-can-eat self-serve bar costs ₩2,000 per person. Given how cheap the meat is, I totally accept that the bar has a price tag!! Lettuce, perilla leaves, minari (water dropwort), angelica, green onion, onion, mushrooms, chili peppers, bean sprouts, corn salad, whole garlic, kimchi, bracken fern, and more — the variety was really impressive, and above all, it was fresh!!!
Chewy pork belly, 5,900 won per 100g, from 3 servings up
One serving is 100g, and you need to order at least 3 servings. It's Duroc pork raised on chestnuts, and the chewy texture with savory juiciness was genuinely delicious!!!
The grill was heated up so hot that the moment I put the chewy pork belly on, it cooked incredibly fast — such a nice touch!!! The second that savory smell hits, the wait feels unbearable, but thin-sliced really is the best!!!
If you miss the timing even a little, it gets way too crispy. Focus, and really focus again, to get the texture you want! Some pieces I kept soft, others I let char just a bit — each version was delicious in its own way!!!
The meat had zero gamey smell and was genuinely chewy and delicious!! The fragrant herbs — perilla leaves, minari, and angelica — were great with it. Angelica especially, with that slight bitterness, was really something.
The doenjang stew at Daepae Market tastes more like a clear soup
This doenjang (soybean paste) stew has a clear, refreshing flavor. It's a basic version without meat in it, so it tasted even cleaner!! It wasn't overly strong or seasoned, just light and delicious!!! It's less like a thick stew and more like a non-salty soup.
Chili paste rice bowl (gochu dadaegi bap), 4,500 won
This spicy chili rice comes in a wide bowl, with steamed rice, spicy chili paste (고추다대기), and a sunny-side-up egg with a runny yolk. You can mix it all together to your taste, or add the doenjang soup. I personally love eating rice together with meat, and that chili paste was pure magic!!! Spicy with a really rich savoriness!!!
Is Daepae Market Nonhyeon worth it? Final verdict
Really great value, and above all, really delicious!!! You'd normally assume such low prices mean the meat quality suffers, but not at all!!! If you're looking for a great Nonhyeon BBQ restaurant, a 24-hour pork belly spot, I strongly recommend [Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch]!!!
