We ordered the value couple set with an extra portion of original lamb skewers added. The value couple set comes with original lamb skewers + seasoned lamb skewers + Chinese-style cucumber salad + guobaorou (small). You can swap the skewers for original or seasoned depending on your taste when ordering. The Chinese-style cucumber salad can be swapped for warm noodles or egg fried rice, so we chose egg fried rice instead of the cucumber salad.

There's a baby chair, so it's easy to come here with kids. We came with our own lamb-skewer-loving kid, and the owner is always so kind that it's a place that just puts you in a good mood.

Inside the shop there's a self-serve bar where you can take as much cumin and pickled mustard greens as you want. If you need a small plate, you can grab one there too.

This is the basic table setting. The peanuts here are amazing haha. Salty and delicious.

How the guobaorou and jisamseon taste

As the dishes from our couple set started arriving one by one, they finally put the lamb skewers on the grill.

The guobaorou from the set and the jisamseon from the coupon. The guobaorou is crispy, tangy, and sweet, so even the kid ate it well. The jisamseon was also delicious, with crunchy vegetables and crispy eggplant.

Whole garlic grilled on the empty skewers

If you order a portion of garlic, you get whole garlic bulbs like this. You won't get them unless you order separately, so if you love garlic, definitely order this. Grilled, it's amazing too.

After finishing the lamb skewers, you can skewer the garlic cloves, skin still on, onto the empty sticks and grill them so they don't burn and come out delicious. The skewer tips are sharp, so hold both ends of the garlic clove like in the photo to avoid injury. I bled the last time I tried this, so I was careful this time.

Ppaldu soju and the two lamb skewer flavors

True to a Gwangju drinking spot, they also have ppaldu (a local drink). Of course we ordered ppaldu haha.

Here are the original and seasoned lamb skewers. Both are delicious. The seasoned ones were tasty even without dipping them in cumin. My elementary schooler seems to eat more than 10 skewers alone every time we come here.

Restroom amenities at Sinbaegok

And the restroom, which matters a lot for women! The men's restroom is outside the door, while the women's restroom is inside the shop. Inside there's a hair dryer, comb, Febreze, hair ties, cotton pads, cotton swabs, and more. When you're eating without a care in the world, your makeup can get messed up or your hair needs fixing — here you can check your look before heading out.

The closing event and the verdict on Sinbaegok

Add them as a KakaoTalk friend and you get free ice cream. It's nice to hold the little toy and ice cream you win from the draw event and chat all the way home.

There's nowhere in Taejeon-dong with as many events as Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers. The cooked dishes are tasty, and most importantly the lamb skewers themselves are the best around. It felt great to visit a lamb skewer place we've long frequented under such a nice opportunity. It's a place that satisfies both lamb skewer lovers and people who can't eat lamb skewers but love good cooked dishes. Highly recommended for anyone in Gwangju, Gyeonggi who loves lamb skewers or is looking for a Taejeon-dong favorite.
