Main photo of Chat Baker brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong

I was looking for a big café around Pyeongtaek and Anseong and ended up at Chat Baker, near Anseong Farmland. It is a 500-pyeong (about 1,650 m²) bakery café in Gongdo, Anseong, with lots of space, handmade bread, drip coffee and brunch all in one place. If you are heading out of Pyeongtaek toward Anseong and want coffee and brunch after Anseong Farmland, Chat Baker seems just right.

How do you get to Chat Baker in Anseong, and what does it look like?

Chat Baker is inside the 512 Square shopping complex in Gongdo, Anseong, and the green sign makes it easy to spot. There is parking in front of the entrance, so it was convenient by car.

Chat Baker felt like a big café from the outside already. The green sign with its clean logo stands out, and it sits inside the 512 Square complex, so finding it was not hard. There is parking in front of the entrance, which made getting there by car easy.

Outside of Chat Baker's entrance, which looks like a shopping-complex shop

From outside it looks like a café in a shopping complex, but inside it opens up into a much bigger, more stylish space than I expected. It really lives up to being a big café in Pyeongtaek-Anseong, and the first impression was clean and relaxed.

Chat Baker's first floor: interior and seating

The first floor has a high ceiling and an open layout, with the ordering area, bakery display and counter gathered in the middle. The tables are spaced generously, so it was comfortable for brunch.

Walking in, the high ceiling and open layout were the first things I noticed. The ordering area, bakery display and counter sit together in the middle of the room, and white and wood tones give it a clean feel. An LP-shaped Chat Baker motif on the floor adds a sentimental touch.

The seating area keeps going as you walk further in. It doesn't feel stuffy, and thanks to the high ceiling it didn't feel crowded even with people around. The first-floor tables are spaced generously, so eating brunch was comfortable. If you are looking for a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong, it suits a full meal, not just coffee, which I liked.

There was also a neat self-service corner near the counter.

Seeing all the certificates on display, I understood why it is so well known as a big café in Pyeongtaek-Anseong.

The stairs up to the second floor were nicely decorated too. Plants, objects and posters are placed naturally in each spot, so it is good for photos, and it felt like an Anseong Gongdo bakery café that cares about its interior.

What is Chat Baker's second floor like?

The second floor mixes large tables, window seats and sofa seats, with big windows looking onto greenery. One side has an LP and music corner, and it was even more relaxing than the first floor.

The second floor was a more relaxed place to stay than the first. The seating is varied, from large tables to window seats and sofas, so it works whether you come alone, on a date or for a family outing.

The big windows show green views, which really brings out that relaxed suburban-café feeling!

In the seats where the sun comes in, even a single cup of coffee felt healing. I'd recommend it as a quiet place to rest near Anseong Farmland.

One side of the second floor has an LP and music corner, which people looking for an LP café in Anseong will like. It blends with the music playing across the whole café and makes the mood even more sentimental.

The restrooms were kept clean, and as befits a big Anseong café, the layout is generous overall, so staying a long time wasn't a burden.

Chat Baker menu and signature breads

The menu is divided into desserts, brunch and drinks. Drip coffee comes in three specialty beans to choose from: acidity, balance or nutty. The signature bread top 5 is salt bread, red bean butter salt bread, ciabatta sandwich, white cream roll and Gongju chestnut loaf.

Chat Baker serves both bakery items and brunch. The menu was neatly organized into desserts, brunch and drinks, and the brunch selection was more varied than I expected!

The drinks are varied too. Signature drinks include a brown sugar latte, a handmade vanilla bean latte, a fresh chocolate latte and lemonade, and the drip coffee comes in three specialty beans you can choose from: acidity, balance or nutty. I heard the bases for the drinks are made in-house, which is a good point for anyone looking for a new café in Anseong.

Which brunch dishes did we order at Chat Baker?

My husband and I ordered the panne bacon cream pasta and the rosé cream sausage risotto. Cucumber and jalapeño came as the standard pickles.

Eating in a big, pretty space at a sunlit seat added to the mood and made everything taste even better.

The standard pickles are cucumber and jalapeño, so you can eat them to your taste. When you're eating pasta there are moments you want something fresh, and these made it much easier to keep going without feeling heavy.

How does Chat Baker's panne bacon cream pasta taste?

Chat Baker panne bacon cream pasta

Chat Baker's panne (bread bowl) bacon cream pasta comes with crispy panne bread baked in the shop and a rich cream pasta.

Rather than having the pasta served inside the bread like a typical panne, you enjoy prepared bread and pasta side by side, which I found easier to eat.

Olive oil is added to the bread, which gave it even better flavor.

The cream sauce was nutty and smooth, and the salty bacon cut the richness. The sauce soaked well into the noodles, and dipping the bread in the cream sauce made it a hearty brunch. If you like cream pasta, you'll like this.

How does Chat Baker's rosé cream sausage risotto taste?

Chat Baker's rosé cream sausage risotto is a rich rosé cream sauce risotto topped with a big Johnsonville sausage. It looked filling from the start and was enough for a full meal.

In the rosé sauce you could taste the balance of smooth cream and tomato, and it was rich and nutty rather than harsh.

The juicy, salty sausage on top made it a hearty dish overall. It seemed ideal for anyone looking for a pasta brunch spot among the big cafés in Pyeongtaek-Anseong. Both dishes were generous and tasty, and Chat Baker is not just a place for bread, coffee and dessert but a café near Anseong Farmland where you can have a proper meal.
