Coffee Dripper (커피드립퍼) is a dessert café near Chodang Sundubu Street in Gangneung, Gangwon. I ordered Chodang sundubu (soft tofu) pudding, a Dripper Latte, a cone chocolate latte, and a vanilla cruffin in its sunny wood-toned space. A lovely stop for a special dessert after a Chodang sundubu meal.
Jinmi Hwareo Center is a seafood takeout shop inside Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. We packed ₩30,000 flounder sashimi and two small Korean squid sashimi for ₩15,000 to enjoy at our accommodation. Verdict: a friendly, good-value stop to add to a Sokcho market food run.
QooQoo Chuncheon Branch is a sushi buffet on the B1 level of Two Top City in Chuncheon, Gangwon. I visited with my sister at 11:30 a.m. on a weekday after its 2026 renovation, ate sushi through desserts without waiting, and registered for 3 hours of free underground parking. QooQoo Chuncheon Branch is a cleaner, family-friendly buffet after the remodel.
Yeoyejeong is a charcoal-grilled meat restaurant in Yangyang, Gangwon. We ordered 2 portions of marinated ribs, baekgimchi noodles and Yeoyeong naengmyeon, with easy parking and group pickup adding to the appeal. Verdict: a satisfying stop for tender ribs and refreshing noodles.
Gangneung Sand Main Branch (강릉샌드 본점) is a dessert café in Gangneung, Gangwon, with six flavors of individually wrapped sand cookies. Duyu and I stopped by to see the Santorini-style building, then took away coffee and Chodang corn sand. Verdict: a lovely Gangneung souvenir snack for sharing.
Sokcho Topgol Makguksu Main Branch is a makguksu restaurant near the Sokcho Eye in Sokcho, Gangwon. Perilla oil buckwheat noodles, spicy-sweet pollock noodles, and buckwheat dumplings made a hugely satisfying first meal with friends. Verdict: A Sokcho makguksu meal even picky friends approved of.
Yongchon Gogi-jip is a charcoal-grilled meat restaurant in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon. Its large parking lot and private rooms made a family meal with children easy, and the tender, gently sweet pork ribs were the standout. Verdict: a satisfying stop between Sokcho and Goseong.
Yeoyejeong is a salt-aged charcoal-grill restaurant in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. For the first meal of a 2-night, 3-day trip, I had pork belly, whole pork jowl, and Yeojeong naengmyeon for 15,000–18,000 won per meat order and 5,000 won for noodles. Verdict: a satisfying, hearty way to start a Yangyang trip.
Jeong Eunsuk Chodang Sundubu is a sundubu restaurant in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, serving breakfast from 8:00. We had the 25,000 won Chodang Premium Table with added boiled pork, seasoned half-dried pollack, and crab sundubu hot pot. Verdict: a satisfying, healthy-feeling table for breakfast or a hangover cure.
Samsam Goroke is a bakery in Sokcho, Gangwon, inside Sokcho Jungang Market’s Dakjeon Alley. We packed six flavors and especially loved the spicy jjamppong and Sokcho red crab croquettes, both generously filled. Verdict: a fun market snack to eat right away or bring home as a travel gift.

Hwangbuja Jeotgal is a salted seafood shop at Sokcho Central Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. I sampled and brought home 600g each of octopus jeotgal and nakji-tang, packed with ice packs for white rice. Verdict: a worthwhile stop for a delicious rice-stealing side dish after a Sokcho trip.
