Yongchon Gogi-jip is a charcoal-grilled meat restaurant in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon. Its large parking lot and private rooms made a family meal with children easy, and the tender, gently sweet pork ribs were the standout. Verdict: a satisfying stop between Sokcho and Goseong.
Yeoyejeong is a salt-aged charcoal-grill restaurant in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. For the first meal of a 2-night, 3-day trip, I had pork belly, whole pork jowl, and Yeojeong naengmyeon for 15,000–18,000 won per meat order and 5,000 won for noodles. Verdict: a satisfying, hearty way to start a Yangyang trip.

We had the 25,000 won Chodang Premium Table with added boiled pork, seasoned half-dried pollack, and crab sundubu hot pot. Verdict: a satisfying, healthy-feeling table for breakfast or a hangover cure.
Samsam Goroke is a bakery in Sokcho, Gangwon, inside Sokcho Jungang Market’s Dakjeon Alley. We packed six flavors and especially loved the spicy jjamppong and Sokcho red crab croquettes, both generously filled. Verdict: a fun market snack to eat right away or bring home as a travel gift.

We arrived before 11:30 and ordered the Chodang Tofu Table Set for two at 20,000 won per person. Verdict: a deeply satisfying, gentle Korean meal worth arriving early for.
Hwangbuja Twigim is a Korean snack restaurant in Sokcho Central Market, Gangwon. I packed mini ojingeo sundae, a small baby crab, and a small seed shrimp gangjeong, and they were still warm and generously portioned three hours later at home. Verdict: the bite-sized squid sundae and crispy baby crab were especially good!
Yeoyejeong is a charcoal Korean barbecue restaurant in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. After waiting at 7 p.m., we ordered 3 portions of pork belly, 2 portions of pork jowl, noodles, rice, and two stews, then added 3 more portions of pork belly. Verdict: Yeoyejeong is absolutely worth revisiting for both the meat and stew.
Sokcho Topgol Makguksu Main Branch is a makguksu restaurant near Sokcho Beach in Sokcho, Gangwon. We shared deulmemak, pollack sashimi buckwheat noodles, potato pancake, and 17,000-won solo suyuk, with the unseasoned deulmemak lingering in my memory. A satisfying first meal before or after a beach walk.
Gangneung Sand Main Branch (강릉샌드 본점) is a sand dessert café near Gyeongpo Pavilion in Gangneung, Gangwon. I chose coffee and Chodang sweet corn flavors, explored the fifth-floor rooftop observatory, and loved the lightly frozen sand and gift-ready packaging. Verdict: a lovely stop for a break and Gangneung souvenirs.

My husband, Arin, and I shared Set 1 and Set 12, including king prawns, red snow crab meat, nurungji squid sundae, and Abai sundae. Verdict: the king prawn stayed pleasantly crisp after takeaway, though the atmosphere I observed in the shop was disappointing.
