Yangyang Korean barbecue dinner with kimchi stew: Yeoyejeong

Last weekend on a trip to Yangyang, I visited the meat hotspot Yeoyejeong (여여정). I had eaten lots of raw fish in Yangyang, so I really agonized over which barbecue place to choose—but the reviews were so good, and everyone said the meat was delicious enough to draw a wait. I’m someone who does not wait in line, but I even waited for this place!

Let me introduce Yeoyejeong, where the meat was so delicious and the staff were incredibly kind!

Dinner after driving from Sol Beach Yangyang

We stayed at Sol Beach Yangyang, and navigation said it would take 17 minutes by car~ It was close by, so it was perfect for driving over for dinner.

There is parking, too, and Yeoyejeong’s whole yard is a parking area, so it was wonderfully spacious and easy to park without any worries!

We arrived around 7 p.m., and it was already packed, with people waiting, too. It had been such a long time since I had waited for a barbecue restaurant—how good must it be to have a line like this? I was already curious before going in.

There were so many people eating inside! If a barbecue place is full like this, you cannot even imagine how delicious the meat must be, right? My heart was fluttering, wondering how good it would be. The inside was filled with that delicious smell of grilling meat, haha. There were all sorts of groups—families, couples, and friends!

When we came in, the table was neatly set up. And there was something eye-catching beside the table.

Lucky draw event for writing a review

It was a review event! A lucky draw event, to be exact. When you write a review, you can do the draw or choose and take a toy from the side. I wanted a toy, haha, so I wrote a review and got a squishy toy! My sister and partner wrote reviews on their phones too, and we got squishies and a few other things. With an event like this, kids would absolutely love it too, right?!

Charcoal-grilled meat and a hearty table spread

At Yeoyejeong, you grill the meat over charcoal. I’m already drooling just thinking about it...

The basic spread was so hearty, too: cucumber kimchi, cabbage salad, white kimchi, and mushrooms! There were not only so many side dishes that anyone who loves Korean food would have to enjoy, but also...

Wrap lettuce, meat sauce, and chives—such a great setup for enjoying meat in a wholesome way, right?

The menu was clearly posted on the wall, so it was easy to look through and order!

• 3 portions pork belly
• 2 portions pork jowl
• Bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles)
• A bowl of rice
• Doenjang stew (soybean paste stew)
• Kimchi stew

The pork belly and pork jowl came out right away! It was fresh pork belly, and it really looked like great quality, right? Any meat lover can spot quality meat~

As for pork jowl—what more is there to say? It is always chewy and deliciousㅠㅠ I’m already salivating. There was plenty of meat, and the prices were lower than elsewhere, making it an even happier place to eat!

The cold noodles came out too! They were mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) topped with dadegi spicy seasoning, so they felt almost like a mix between broth and bibim noodles. They were perfect for eating refreshingly with the meat!

We grilled the pork belly and pork jowl beautifully, then I put pork belly on wrap lettuce first and added chives marinated in the meat sauce. Ahhh, there is no way that could not be delicious~~ Yeoyejeong’s meat is simply amazing. As a meat lover, I would rank it among the top three meats I have eaten this year.

It was delicious wrapped up, delicious with the cold noodles, delicious on its own, delicious with kimchi—why was it this good?.. We loved the pork belly so, so much that the four of us ordered 3 more portions and ate over 8 portions altogether!! Everyone could not stop praising it, haha.

The doenjang stew and kimchi stew were so delicious, too. They were good enough to make you say, “This place really knows what it is doing.” So I polished off a bowl of rice with the kimchi stew. It was packed with meat, so as a meat lover, I could not help but fall for it, haha. I think even coming for lunch and having just stew and rice would make for such a satisfying meal!

If I go to Yangyang, there is a 99,999% chance I’ll revisit 🤍
