Cafe Dunchi is a café on the second floor of a water sports center beside the lower Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, Gangwon. I rode an electric boat there with my parents and drank café drinks while taking in the river views. We had to steer and control forward and stop ourselves, but did not need to pedal; the speed felt different depending on the current.
Baegya Coffee is a large bakery café overlooking Sacheonjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. I visited with my husband on a weekday morning, had coffee, crungji, and a pepperoni pizza pastry on the third floor, and enjoyed the unhurried sea view. It is much busier on weekends, but the roomy parking, group seating, and plentiful weekday bread selection made this visit easy.
Hwangbuja Twigim is a Korean fried-snack restaurant in Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market. I took away ₩20,000 of fried squid and ₩10,000 of king prawn tempura; the squid was plump and chewy, while the prawns stayed crisp from head to tail.
Yeoyejeong is an aged beef and pork barbecue restaurant in Sangpyeong-ri village, Yangyang, Gangwon. After visiting Naksansa, I had two portions of chuck flap tail, kimchi jjigae, and sotbap; the thick, tender beef and scorched rice with hovenia tea stood out, though there was a brief weekday-evening wait.
Ichiba Ramen is a ramen restaurant in Sokcho, Gangwon, where my husband and I ordered Special Tonkotsu Ramen, Kara Ramen, and butadon. The large pork belly topping and rich beef-bone broth stood out, while adding shichimi to the Kara Ramen made it spicy enough to make me cough.

I enjoyed the relaxed visit, but checking the address is important because I initially went to the wrong Seongnam-dong branch.

Jin Seiromushi is a Korean restaurant on Seonsa-ro 2-gil in Sokcho, where I had a crab marinated in soy sauce set meal and a shrimp version for lunch with my parents during our trip. The crab was not overly salty, and the mild namul side dishes, rich doenjang-jjigae, and spacious dining room stood out.
Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market Large Parking Lot is a seafood takeout shop in Sokcho, Gangwon. I picked up a two-red-snow-crab lunchbox with two freshly cooked crab-innards fried rice portions; the prepared crab was easy to share, and the rice was nutty without a fishy smell.

I visited with my husband, daughter, and dog, bringing a strawberry smoothie and affogato aboard an electric boat. Being able to share a quiet ride on the river with our dog was the highlight.
