Korean restaurant in Sokcho for crab meals: Jin Seiromushi
In short
Jin Seiromushi is a Korean restaurant on Seonsa-ro 2-gil in Sokcho, where I had a crab marinated in soy sauce set meal and a shrimp version for lunch with my parents during our trip. The crab was not overly salty, and the mild namul side dishes, rich doenjang-jjigae, and spacious dining room stood out.

While traveling around Sokcho with my parents by public transportation and on foot, we had lunch at Jin Seiromushi (진 세이로무시) near our accommodation. We ordered the red snow crab marinated in soy sauce set meal and the shrimp marinated in soy sauce set meal, and the mild side dishes and spacious setting made for a comfortable meal.
How are the space and parking for a meal with parents?
The name made me picture a small izakaya, but it was actually a large restaurant with a spacious parking lot. There was also a large aquarium on one side of the restaurant.
Inside, there was group seating and private rooms. The spacious layout made it comfortable to dine with my parents, and it also seemed well suited to groups traveling together.
What is on the menu, and does hinoki steaming require a reservation?
We looked through the menu on a tablet. Along with the red snow crab and shrimp marinated in soy sauce set meals, they also offered hinoki-steamed dishes and Korean beef.
At the time of my visit, the hinoki-steamed dishes were listed as reservation-only. It also said that during the July–August red snow crab fishing ban, the red snow crab in the hinoki-steamed dish would be replaced with other seafood.
What are the prices and side dishes for the crab and shrimp set meals?
We ordered the red snow crab marinated in soy sauce set meal for ₩23,000 and the shrimp marinated in soy sauce set meal for ₩25,000. These prices are from the time of the original visit.
The many side dishes filled the table. The original post also included an animation scene to convey that feeling.
After eating strongly seasoned food, I especially enjoyed having the mild namul (seasoned vegetable) dishes alongside it.
Was the red snow crab too salty? How was the shrimp?
The red snow crab was not overly salty. According to the restaurant, they keep live red snow crabs caught in Sokcho in the aquarium and marinate them in small batches according to how quickly they are used. They said they add vegetables and other ingredients for savoriness and adjust the saltiness.
I picked the meat from the shrimp and placed it over rice. The shrimp I had also contained roe, which was a pleasant surprise.
I mixed rice into the red snow crab shell and had a spoonful. The claws were not hard, so they were easy to eat.
The fish served with the meal had a slightly dried-fish-like texture and was fried with a nutty flavor. I could not confirm exactly what kind of fish it was. I ate the myeongnan-jeot (salted pollock roe) with seaweed and rice, and the earthy, rich doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) was particularly memorable.
What stayed with me after the meal?
At the end, I saw rice cookers preparing rice and plaques of appreciation the owner had received. Seeing the rice being prepared gave me the impression that attention was paid to the restaurant's upkeep and cooking process.
It was a comfortable place to have a meal with my parents. We tried the two set meals this time, and I would like to try other dishes if I am nearby again.
