Riverside camping and stargazing in Yeongwol: Maru Pension Camping

Maru Pension Camping Site is a riverside pension and campground in Yeongwol, Gangwon, beside the Pyeongchang River. I set up a one-touch tent at the shaded C3 site on a weekday and enjoyed the facilities, river scenery, and a star-filled night. Maru Pension Camping Site is a lovely Yeongwol campground for zoning out over a Pyeongchang River view.

Sokcho charcoal pork ribs near the beach: Kkulkkuine

Kkulkkuine Charcoal Pork Ribs is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Joyang-dong, Sokcho, Gangwon. After 3 servings of pork ribs with complimentary steamed egg and soybean paste stew, I walked 20 minutes to Sokcho Beach. Verdict: a warmly local-feeling stop for gently seasoned, charcoal-scented ribs.

Goseong café with Ulsanbawi views: Bellemons Cafe

Bellemons Cafe is a dessert café in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon, with wide views of Ulsanbawi and Seoraksan through floor-to-ceiling windows. We lingered by the window with sweet corn honey cake, whipped-cream chewy bread, a nutty cream latte, and omija ade. For a quiet mountain-view break rather than an ocean-view café, Bellemons Cafe is a great fit.
