Looking for somewhere to have sashimi near Gyeongpo Lake, we headed to Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch (삼삼이네 경포대본점), a place that has been featured on lots of TV shows. It was easy to find on the corner at the entrance to Gangmun Beach, and knowing it is a red sea bream yubiki specialist with 25 years of history got me even more excited.
Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch: location and parking near Gyeongpo Lake

It is about a six-minute walk from Gyeongpo Lake Plaza, on Changhae-ro in Gangmun-dong. Parking felt quite plentiful, so we could comfortably use the nearby public and lake parking lots too.

There are lots of other sashimi restaurants in this area, but this one was especially clean and neat. Such a good first impression from the start~
A quiet, spacious dining room

As soon as we walked in, the photos and autographs covering the walls caught our eye. Apparently actors Kim Il-woo, Kim Jae-wook, Im Won-hee, Choo Young-woo, Park Hae-joon, Hong In-gyu, and Jeong Seong-ho, plus comedians, table-tennis player Kim Taek-su, and curlers Kim Yeong-mi and Kim Seon-yeong have all visited!

It really felt like a well-known restaurant that appears on TV often. The dining room was quiet and spacious, making it easy to talk, and there was plenty of room between the tables.

We were getting takeaway, but?! I thought dining in would have been so nice too, right by the sea~
Value red sea bream yubiki sashimi and mulhoe for two

First up, the value menu! It comes nicely put together with assorted sashimi, mulhoe (spicy chilled raw-fish soup), sushi rice, seasoned vegetables, and basic side dishes. We chose the value red sea bream yubiki sashimi + mulhoe menu for two as takeaway and ate to our hearts' content. And then there is the signature red sea bream yubiki sashimi! Lastly, here is the Samsami assorted sashimi menu.
What was the texture of the red sea bream yubiki sashimi like?

We ordered the great-value set for two with red sea bream yubiki sashimi and mulhoe.

Yubiki is a sashimi preparation where the fish is lightly blanched in hot water; I heard it is a premium technique that brings out red sea bream's distinctive texture and savory depth. Red sea bream is normally a pricier fish, but here both the quality and portion were generous for the price.
Mulhoe, sides, and how to enjoy them
It came with somyeon (thin wheat noodles) for the mulhoe, along with small portions of sushi rice so we could make sashimi sushi.

There were several side ingredients set out too, including aged kimchi, seasoned cabbage, and makjang (savory soybean paste dipping sauce).

I had set aside one of each for the photos, so it was actually much more generous than it looks.

They also told us how to eat it deliciously: put sauce and seasoned cabbage on aged kimchi, add a piece of sashimi, then wrap it up with wasabi. The rich flavors just burst across the mouth.
Takeaway red sea bream yubiki at Ramada Hotel

The red sea bream looked so luminous from the color alone that I took tons of photos.

The two of us were beside ourselves because it was so delicious. We had it as a late-night snack after Korean beef tripe, yet even though we were full, we kept eatingㅠ

We wrapped it in perilla leaves too,

made little sashimi sushi, and especially loved the combination of sashimi on aged kimchi with seasoned cabbage, dipped in wasabi. That springy texture came alive with every bite—it made it completely clear why the red sea bream yubiki is the signature dish!!

We took it back and ate it for dinner at Ramada Hotel quite a while later, but it was still fresh and truly delicious. It was exactly the kind of place that makes you say, “I’d come back for this.”

Oh, and since this was a mulhoe set for two, the mulhoe was incredibly generous too!!

You just add the somyeon like this and enjoy. If you want to properly try red sea bream yubiki near Gyeongpodae or Gangmun Beach, I highly, highly recommend Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch!
